FWIW I don't believe Marcus Lovett was eased into the position and he was very effective. I'm not necessarily comparing them, but if Posh provides similar contributions we'll be in for a nice season. Unfortunately I've only seen video, so I'm not sure if I'm asking for too much.

Wouldn't it be great if Posh falls Into that Cook, Barkely group? Players who enter SJU with plenty of point guard experience at the high school level who are talented enough to run a college team from day one.

LoVett sat out a year, was older & practiced w team I believe, but we’ll see what PT Posh merits and gets soon enough.

Posh has a few things going for him that should really help ease his transition. For starters his physicality is already at the level of most BE guards. Hes got a senior and a junior in Dunn and Williams who both played prime PG minutes this past year to lean on and learn from. And he’s got another freshmen in Mggriff to go through the wars with. Posh loves to push the pace. He is tailor-made for CMAs uptempo, full court system. I say about 20 minutes from him. 10-15 from Mggriff and the rest by committee.

Cook and Barkley were McDonald’s All Americans out of high school. Posh is a three star recruit. Can’t compare.

Agree with most of this post. Bring him along slowly. Do not agree that Williams “played prime PG minutes.” He played some early in the season before Dunn became eligible and very sporadically thereafter. If we’re relying on Williams to play pg for any substantial period next year, we’re in trouble.

Posh scoring between 25-60 ppg for a top prep team. I don’t think rankings mean you can’t compare them. Again, Posh should be at minimum a 4-star top 70 kid this season. With his stats and the way he’s played. He’s simply a victim of the rankings system and never got bumped back up after missing junior AAU and breaking his arm. If he’s a 3-star then he’s an absolute steal at that rank because it isn’t accurate. I don’t think anybody can fend him off for long as a starter. Dunn will play multiple roles because he’s a combo. Both Dunn and Posh are relentless at attacking via dribble penetration and are both difficult to stop in that regard. Difference is that posh is a much better distributor.
As far as LJ goes, unfortunately this year is an awful time to go pro regardless of whether it’s NBA(LJ simply not that level) nor overseas. This virus making its way around the world and the market for a guy like LJ is simply not going to be there. I don’t think he will have many good choices besides coming back, or at least many less choices than if he waits another year and hopefully this Covid thing blows over a bit.

I think too much attention is often paid to two things: 3 star versus 4 star and who starts. Mac McClung was a 3 star recruit with a 79 rating who had no problem not only starting but starring as a frosh; ditto both Champagnie brothers. I give more credence to how Posh has played against high level competition and the opinion of knowledgeable posters on this site who follow high school basketball and are confident that he will be a big plus for us from the get go. I don't really care which five guys start, there'll be plenty of minutes to spread around. Always more important who plays at crunch time and I expect that will also vary based on who is playing well that day.
