LJ Figueroa NY Post Piece
Also our losing streak came when Lovett got injured and we gave a lot of the extra minutes to Owens.

Lovett is not that big, I thought our complete lack of three point shooting in many of our losses was our downfall. Hopefully that was addressed, and I think it was.
Lovett injury took away our distinct advantage last year. With LJ Dixon and Williams to a certain extent added to ponds (man we need him) and Simon who could exponentially improve on a good year last year we will be in much better shape guard wise and we will have a huge advantage. And I think that advantage will outweigh some of our posters concerns of lack of addition of big man where it won’t matter about being out rebounded.

Wow.....tried to temper enthusiasm, but you guys have it all figured out.

Who needs an inside game when we've got fools gold and a savior in his first NCAA season?

Nobody said LJ is a savior. Just a nice piece that will play an nice role in addition to our other nice pieces. Relax on fools gold comment too. All I said was I like our advantages to outshine our disadvantage.

BTW, to Paultz's point, Josh Roberts is listed at 190 pounds. In the interest of building some context, Marcus Lovett was listed at 180 and Justin Cole at 190. Amar was 6'9" and 240 lbs.

Roberts looks like a really good pick-up, but he's likely not a high impact freshman.

That's essentially my point. How does a nice role player alter our staff offseason strategy (as reported by Zach)?

The fools goal comment was not a response to anything you had posted.

Of course that's not what I said, but keep hoping for the worst. Teams can win different ways.

I think let's see what happens makes sense, but I guess you already have it figured out. A month ago I had no idea of who either Figueroa or Femi Something the other were. I don't think that puts me in the minority.

So now Femi Something goes to DePaul and we sign Figueroa. Let's see what they both do and then judge our staff.

I want to see wins, a good team. I'm not hung up on style of play.

It’s all good even it it was as I tend to be more optimistic. But I really do like this addition of LJ especially at this stage of the game. I understand he put up those numbers at juco level but it’s not like He didn’t have the potential out of high school. He was a legit 4 star and it sounds like he wants to take on the big stage and shine by all those talking about his game. I get the temper expectation side. But I can see the other side more

LOL.....I checked back and it looks like the fools gold comment actually was in response to your post! :eek:hmy: In any event, I hear you and accept that it is possible for us to have a decent season. I am just finding it difficult to square this offseason's effort and results. I have definitely lost some confidence in this staff.

I thInk in this era of ball, with the three as important as it is, smaller teams are much more prevalent than our posters seem to believe.

I think that is due to the average age of our posters (not a slam, I turn 60 myself this month) who have long histories watching a different game than is now played.

Ovrerall talent is the key, if we ever get enough we will be fine.

Big if.

IDRAFT, first off I agree that many of us (myself included) go back to the days when your typical frontcourt was Willis Reed, Dave Debusshere and Bill Bradley. I understand that with the 3 ball, 4 guards/wings with one big man is a very viable approach. However, in most cases where that approach is used in college (or pros), there are at least two big men on the roster to fill that one big man role on the court at any time. In the three teams you cited, Kansas State had Wade who at 6'10, 228 lbs who averaged 33 minutes, and Mawren at 6'9 and 225 lbs who average 20 minutes; Buffalo had Perkins at 6'8 and 250 lbs who averaged 28 minutes and Smart at 6'10 and 240 lbs who avergaed 12 minutes; Arizona St. had White at 6'8 who averaged 24 minutes and Lake at 6'10 who average 17 minutes.
We have only Keita with that kind of size. Hope it works, but there is absolutely no question is an unusual approach to success.

190 nice! Has about 20 pounds on Owens then.

Owens was listed at 205 lbs. and is 3 inches taller. They're equally skinny. Owens' game obviously much more developed at this point.

My first reaction was dramatic much? However summer is boring on here so lets make this a thing. Like a murder mystery or Agatha Christie novel. You present your case and we will figure out who deleted your post. I think it was Mkrass in the study with a candlestick. Did I win?

Based on the thank you, I'm going with Otis in the kitchen with a rolling pin. My second choice is Redmanorth, also in the kitchen but with a plate of arsenic-laced poutine.;)

Far from dramatic, fallacious one. Just simply asked a question that I felt was warranted. If you knew the deal, then you'd know why I asked and responded in such way.

I know you're clowning around, but I'm rather confident mkras isn't the "villian." So, nothing doing for you.

If that wasn't dramatic I shudder to think what Dramatic Dink sounds like. Not questioning your questioning of who deleted your posts, just the superfluous colorful language, which is what I think WASJU was referring to as well.

BTW I love mystery novels. When I was a kid there was this book that was actually a contest. "Who killed the Robbins family?" There were like 15 people and you had to figure out who killed everyone for $1 mill. But since the book ended w/o the answers and this was before the internet young WASJU never found out who did it. I hope the same thing doesn't happen with Dinkins deleted posts.

Again, if you truly knew the deal, then you may better understand where I'm coming from. If you don't know (which, I highly doubt the two of you do), then you simply won't understand. I'm not gonna derail this thread much longer, but I can explain much better off the thread.
