Picked up my copy yesterday. No surprise as to who is on the cover, Scoop Jardine from Syracuse & Malik Stith. Lindy's picks St. John's to finish 10th in the league. Numbers 1 thru 9 are Pitt, UConn, Syracuse, Louisville, Cincy, Villanova, Marquette, WVU and ND. Georgetown is picked 11th after us followed by Rutgers, USF, Seton Hall, PC & DePaul. Interesting notes in the "Recruiting/Newcomers" section. They pick the following:

Best Group - Louisville

Class That Will Have the Most Impact - Pitt

Best Rebounder - Chane Behanan, Louisville

Best Shooter - D'Angelo Harrison (because of his "range, accuracy and explosion into the shot).

Best Playmaker/Passer - Myles Mack, Rutgers

No 1 Signing Coup - Deandre Daniels - UConn

Lindy's is not the greatest. They do regional covers and I guess Stith was the only st johns player to actuall be photographed in a sju jersey. I picked up the sporting news preview isue and they had us at 11th.

I wasn't surprised because he is the only current player that there is current photo of in a St. John's jersey.

Best group and most impact are tough to answer. Best group in theory should be highest ranked. Most impact is when? This yr? Over how many yrs? Who stays so many yrs? Etc....

How could our recruiting class not have the most impact? It's replacing 95% of the scoring from last year's team. Since there's noone but Stith left, by definition our class will have the beiggest impact.

They might mean who has the most success over a four-year period. Going by wins, it might be Pitt because they have some experienced players coming back next year who will bolster the newcomers' record next season. I of course think we will win a national championship before they do, though.
