Let's go St Francis !

Robert Morris and St. John's both go from the NIT to the NCAA.

st. francis kid got fouled on a three point attempt. needed to sink all freethrows to tie the game. he missed the first two and intentionally missed the third. but it didn't hit the rim.

Feel awful for that kid ... not to mention the St. Francis fans.

Maybe some of the older guys can help me out here. St. Francis Prep was originally in Brooklyn. Isn't it the prep school for St. Francis College?

You are correct-both Franciscan organizations.

My brother went to SFP when it was on North 6th Street in Williamsburg; a quite different area than it is now to say the least. Went on to SJU like I did although I went to sort-of-new Mater Christi. Circle is complete since that building is now St. John's Prep.

SFC had always kind of been our Washington Generals, but not in a bad sense. We'd put them on the schedule early, often destroy them, but we'd just be preparing for the regular season.

I knew a guy in the 70s who was a star there, averaging about 14 ppg for SFC. He told me he was offered a scholarship at St. John's but opted to play instead of riding the bench for 4 years here.

I think it was Norm's first year and the naming of Carnessecca Arena. With all sorts of past players in attendance and a big celebration St Francis wins. An omen of things to come.

As disgusting as that was when we beat them in a subsequent meeting in a nailbiter. BAsed on Norm's quotes you'd have thought we'd beaten Duke.
