General, my prayers for a speedy recovery and a very good pathology report!

General, my prayers for a speedy recovery and a very good pathology report!
Thanks Frank and all my other friends...
Pathology report came back positive - wow surprised me - skin cancer is a silent culprit - but I've caught this "thing" early.
And don't like feeling sorry for myself
More surgery just under left eye
Biggest frustration is continuing to have my eye patched and no driving and disrupting work schedule
I'll be okay, fine, and...that
lesson I hope I heed - sun block and hat
And oh yes, regular checkups for the silent killer.
See you at a game
all the best

Just back from stony brook - great hospital - to have a quarter size chuck of skin removed from under my left eye. I hope when the biopsy comes back it will show the entire melanoma is gone. Then plastic surgery.
My point is the more sun we took in growing up the more likely skin cancer will appear later in life. Those of us old enough recall using reflector shields so our skin could absorb even more rays!!!
Doctors on this site know more than I but even a layperson like me knows the earlier the cancer is caught the better. Mine was noticed at the situ or earliest stage. I go for regular dermatology appointments and even then I had to on my own point out the under the eye spot.
Sin cancer kills in part because there are few early warning signs - before the melanoma grows deeper and spreads. Mine was still superficial. Biggest pain today is the patch covering my left eye.
Enough from
Me though. UVA/UVB Sunblock, Redmen hats, sun blocking shirts...I use them all now. Maybe someone will benefit by this topic.
Any typos - not bad for one eye!
While I sat in the Cooperstown sun during the induction ceremony I felt heat on my right thigh. Thinking it was due to my stupid decision to wear dark shorts, the very next morning while showering I shockingly discovered I had several blisters on my thigh.. That's right, the sun went through the shorts. Will pray for you.
All the best!

Great news! But you do realize that the next time you catch a game at the Garden, you'll be expected to buy a round or two of drinks for everyone who posted their support for you. Right?

Might as well give an update
First of all Redken I will buy drinks at the garden - I'll be the one with a half dollar size skin replacement under my left eye...
If you find me I'm
Buying
Second surgery today - MD explained the pathologist found melanoma around the rim NOT DEEPER just wider where - if deeper - it can start to spread through the lymph & blood systems...I'm a novice at this so others online here undoubtedly know more...
I had to laugh at myself though:
Started out a dime cancer and quarter size surgery; now almost a half dollar sized surgery...what's next a silver dollar?
I had mixed emotions starting this topic but I think it was worthwhile. If my fellow posters don't mind I'll post when I get that negative pathology report and move onto plastic surgery.
Al the best.
