Lenn Robbins & St. John's

robbins sounds like a radio sports show caller. i'm sure lavin, dunlap and keady are going to your columns first thing to make sure they don't miss any suggestions.

great point guards are quarterbacks will different skill sets than pure shooting guards. it takes more than rah rah to win.

thanks for the suggestion, lenn.

Eh, in some ways I agree with Robbins but the way this team runs, its really just Phil bringing the ball up the court as the "point guard". What I agree with Lenn on (and what I think he meant to say) is that we need the ball in Harrison's hands more and for him to be in attack mode. THIS I agree with. However you don't want him on the ball all the time because hes a shooter and you want him in your motion and be able to run him through screens. I do want to see the ball in D'Angelo's hands more and to have him in attack mode all the time.

Also, there have been possessions in the last few games where the shot clock has wound down where the ball has ended up in either Sir Dom or God's Gifts hands in the last few seconds of the shot clock. THIS should not happen. The team has to get the ball to D'Angelo or Moe with the clock winding down. They're the most trustworthy guys to make plays in that position,.

Now when teams play zone on us, the onus is on D'Angelo to find the gaps and most importantly, for Moe to get in attack position on the high post. We've seen what he can do when he catch and faces and that spin move he does has become deadly in recent games.

It is almost funny that Robbins now decides to try and tell the staff what to do. Where was he during the 7 yr plague with Roberts at the helm. All he did was make excuses for Roberts.

Maybe he knew Norm didn't listen to anyone. Like maybe hire a good x and o assistant.

So I'm guessing Lenn wants this line up

1- Harrison
2- Garrett
3- Sir Dom
4- Moe
5- Gift

Garrett not ready just yet. I like Phil out there a lot. He doesn't have real gaudy numbers at this point, but he will be real good as time moves on and is solid already.

If Robbins thinks Harrison should play the point, and they need more height on the court-- that has to be the line up he thinks would be best.

This clown does realize we're only playing with a 7-man rotation, right?

Greene has been fine, he will progress as time elapses. Harrison should not be at the one. Not when you really only have 6 guys. It should be fairly obvious, especially to a guy who calls this his career, that D'Angelo is a prototypical 2.

His lineup would be extremely susceptible to the press.
Just not enough ball handlers.

I agree, esp tonight vs Louis

I think Deangelo should be PG . I believe he can turn into a Hardy. Our need next year may not be a PG but a sharpshooter,Perhaps Woods can fill that role. The previous line up is NG. Because we only have 7 players. We need Garrett playing the F position so we could rotate 4 players over 3 positions.

Harrison had 7 assists in the Providence game. I think he certainly can be a pg, but he is best suited as our SG. He's great coming off screens and it's hard to mess with the sucess he's having, as he's averaging double figures scoring as is. He does play that "combo" role well though. I wouldn't mess with it right now.
