Lavin to Arizona St.?

Some of you must have a very interesting definition of what it means to be a "stand up guy". Tell the truth? Selfless? Reliable? hardworking?
That's what I think of.

And no, I hope he doesn't get the ASU job. Not because I wish SL ill, because I dont. I hope he's very successful and happy announcing or in his other endeavors. But I think he does his players a disservice in terms of basketball development. Also, he doesn't set the type of example I'd like from a college coach or professor.
Call me a hater or whatever you like, but this is what I believe. And I'm sure I'd love to have a beer and hangout with Steve, but he has serious flaws as a coach and manager of a basketball program.

I can understand the hatred people have for Jarvis and even Norm. Lavin was disappointing but ok. He is gone now, they hired Mullin. Let the ghost go!

I'm pretty sure they must have dated at some point in time.

This is a thread about how people want him to get another coaching job! It's not like I'm throwing cold water on him out of nowhere.

In Pet Detective that guy had "Laces out Dan" written all over his wall. Pretty sure Desco has "Wear a tie Steve" written all over his wall.

I don't think this is a fair post. You have to understand the nature of the position and of the business a whole. Every single coach is a liar--either outright or by omission. Lavin would probably still be here if he didn't have a backbone, didn't stand up for his assistants as much, and was less ethical. We'd certainly have Whitehead and probably a few others. He could have thrown his assistants under the bus to save his job, but not once did he speak ill of any of them. All his kids graduated. Nobody got arrested. If you knew everything that happened under Norm and under Lavin, you'd change your mind on who the ultimate good guy actually was.

Coach Lavin improved this program in so many ways. We should all be thankful for his five years here and avoid taking uncalled for shots at him as he continues his career elsewhere and we move on with an absolute legend and fan favorite.

Ethics, lulz. Lavin would probably still be here if he'd won a few more games. But he didn't, because he sucked at coaching.

I'll give you the backbone though, he needed a strong one to support his giant bulbous head.

All his kids graduated.

Nurideen Lindsey graduated? Amir Garrett? Hooper? Polee? Sampson? Roberts? Stith? Dwight Mielke? Is Jordan going to graduate? Is Obekpa? 100 percent of his 4 year players graduated. That's like four players. And ethical Steve Lavin talks about it like he's Thomas Dewey.

Nobody got arrested

But at least one of them committed a crime.

Said Marillac, as he slanders Norm Roberts for the millionth time.

"The snow glows white on the mountain tonight not a footprint to be seen...."

GTFO.

I see your point, and its true I might be ridiculous, but at least I'm not quoting Frozen.
That, in my opinion is inexcusable. Unless of course you are a 7yr old girl.

Jarvis, I could intensely dislike – a selfish guy and program destroyer.

Norm, I liked and just wished he could have done a better job.

Lavin, I appreciated. He brought a step farther than was possible with Norm.

But Chris? Absolutely thrilled to see what he can build here.

Couldn't keep it in. Heaven knows I've tried.

Thankfully I have a boy and only had to sit through that once. I highly recommend Mr Peabody and Sherman. That is the movie of the month in my house. On a constant loop, but I don't mind.

I agree completely with every part of that assessment.

I had to sit through an Ariana F' Grande concert followed up by Cinderella. I will take Frozen.

I remember the year Norm refused to allow the student section to travel to a road game (was either 06 or 07) because he had beef with the student section pep coordinator. He put his foot down and the school funded a road trip to a woman's game instead. I'm still pissed at Norm to this day for that.
