Lavin needs to get a point guard

hernandez 6ft3 signed w tulsa

huh?

Adrian Hernadez 13,5 pts 7,5 assists a game how come a kid from cali did not get Lavins attention?

Probably because coming out of HS he was a 2 star player being courted by Tulsa, Richmond, UC Santa Barbara and St. Mary's.

Go ahead and rip Lavin for how players are progressing, thats fair game. But you can't ask why he didn't get certain players. He's pulled in loads of talented players. Have they fit his system? No. But STJ has more talented players than they have seen in a very long time.

If they didn't fit his system, why bother recruiting them to begin with?

I agree with you. But how do you think our 'fans' would have reacted if he signed a 2 star player instead of a bunch of Top 100's?

moose I worked today missed the game is Gt that much better coached team?

Lavin gives the hoyas tons of credit

We got waxed. Nothing else needs to be said. You can clearly see my posts. I'm not drinking Kool Aid anymore. And this is a year and a half sooner than when I gave up on Norm

We would've bitched and moaned.
However, Lavin doesn't get paid by recruiting classes. He gets paid by wins and tourney appearances.

Either his coaching philosophy has to change or the type of roster he constructs has to change.

You take the higher ranked player because the payoff if you get them to live up to potential is supreme. You know that.

Yeah, but we're talking 'type' of recruit.

Lavin constructed this team to press full court, cause turnovers and fly to the rim.

How many teams in recent memory have had success playing like that?

If you're going to recruit those type of players, you better come up with a gameplan where they can have some sort of continuity in the halfcourt.

That falls squarely on Lavin.

Surprised to hear you hinting that you've given up on Lavin, Moose.

I still think Lavin is the right guy to head up the program, but I think we're seeing how important it is that he has a guy like Dunlap riding shotgun.

Unless we see some improvement over the next few weeks, you have to think the staff gets a shake up this spring. Can't remember the name of the H.S. guy we looked at last spring, but it appears we need a technical guy and disciplinarian in the Dunlap mold.

I don't see a plan or clear direction. Thats what pains me. I believe all coaches get 4 yrs. I expected more from Lavin at this point. Were going backwards.

Do you give him a pass for a year because of the health issues? Can we call the coach's second season a redshirt year?
