I think we just have to assume that Lavin wont be back until next season.
And I'm fine with that if it means a 100% healthy Lavin returns next year, rather than a 50% healthy Lavin this year. His health is paramount and if it means he needs to stay off the bench the rest of the year, then he should.
I agree.
The question though is this: Does he need to get back to the bench this season to convince Gathers, Sampson, etc al. to sign with STJ?
Or will his GM role be enough to convince them to come here?
Who knows? Still think Gathers still wants to be here. His recent quotes indicate he does. I think he's the only one who it is that important to. He's also a key recruit. That's for Lavin to figure out.
Gathers may be the key recruit but I think Obekpa is nearly as important. We need inside presence. If they could only get Gathers, Obekpa and Woods/a shooter to join I think it would be a success since we have Branch committed already. With the added size, an outside threat and a distributor to tie them all together we have a legitimate core of kids to make the NCAA's next year (IMHO).
Harrison is supposed to be a scorer but where is he getting the looks. Definitely not comparing him to Chris but where would Mullin have been if he didn't have a legitmate BE PG to get the ball to him (not to mention a front court that could set the kazillion screens etc...to get him free.) Sorry that got off topic but I think that we need to have two legitimate bigs and a scorer. Right now we have no floor general and we have no inside game.
