Lavin Contract Extension

Good! The progress that this program has made has been great although some fans fail to realize it. We will have been in the post season 3 of the 4 years he has been here, the one exception being the year he was diagnosed with cancer. This program is in good hands!

If we fail to make the NCAA's his year, then this season was a big disappointment but I agree that as a program we are slowly but surely improving and that coach deserves the extension

Agree on potential disappointment & giving Lav extension as well. Helps with recruiting also.

Well, Depaul just did announce that Purnell will be coming back next year. If that's the case, when comparing the two, Lavin certianly deserves a 3 or 4 year extension. LOL.

Seriously though, all 3 years Lavin was actually on the sidelines, we've gone to postseason (counting this year). He may not be the brightest bulb in the shed, but he's rallied this team from an 0-5 conference start, to where we can at least dream about the NCAA tournament. 7 weeks ago, we couldn't.

That banging you hear is lawman slamming his head against a basketball dry erase board as he reads this thread.

Good news. Even with Lavin's limitations we can not afford to keep changing coaches. This program needs stability more than anything else.

I think it is good news and helps with the stability of the program.

Wait, he's got 2 years left after this season. Why the rush to renew now?

He needed ties.

Informative response.

The whole pay for performance concept seems to be foreign to SJU. Anyway, God bless him. The guy knows how to make money (if nothing else).

How does his salary compare to the other coaches in the conference?

I was wondering what that noise was ;)
