Kudos AJ Storr

It was an amazing coaching decision to let a player who can knock down shots play for a team that couldn't hit a 3 if it fell out of a boat.

CMA deserves credit for his decision to play him after the season was in the trash. Bravo!

Not even variables exactly but prior to BE play AJ had 9 rebounds total (158 mins).

He’s had 39 rebounds in big East play. A much more concerted effort there from a guy who’s physically capable of being not only a good, but great, rebounding wing.

Outside of Chris Mullin, no freshman is perfect. Though not sure you would have loved Mullin’s D and if you were alive and there was an internet in 82 I guess you would have been posting that Mullin should not play until his D improved. You would still be waiting on that Btw
But since your first favorite player was Mase jr…, I am surprised you are nitpicking at Storr who is a far superior player to your posting name.
Storr is / was not perfect, but on this flawed and offensively challenged team would have preferred he played big minutes from the jump. No better way to get better.
Btw another favorite of yours Ponds was not exactly Gary Payton either on D.

First off I love Storr so let’s get that out of the way. Have loved him since the get go. Acknowledging his shortcomings doesn’t preclude that from being the case.

There is so much more to defense then guarding the guy who has the ball. Storr struggled with that as well but the other stuff was non existent. Mullin had good rebounding and steal numbers. Then there is also being a passer and a playmaker, two things Storr did little if any of early on. But like you said Mullin he is not.

And I’m not trying to nitpick. Storrs defense and rebounding were legitimatly terrible for the first 10 or so games. Awful. That’s not an exaggeration. And his D last night came really close to losing us the game. I can only imagine the hate CMA would have gotten if he took him out of the game there and that 3 was hit on someone else.

Lastly, Mase JR was not my first favorite player. He was when 13 year old me first started posting. The rhyme scheme was simple enough tho, at least better than SeeYouInHellPostell.

If we had a Sweet 16 team then yes Storr has enough deficiencies that needed to be cleaned up to warrant reduced PT
This whole team is flawed and his skill is better than the rest of the perimeter players so I felt would be more beneficial for him and enjoyable for me if he played more.
Btw the thing no one has posted is in addition to his offensive issues, Posh’s D has been real bad. Honestly outside of Mathis I don’t think there is a sound defensive player on the team. Which is why using the defense excuse for Storr seemed disingenuous.
As you have seen with more PT Storr’s rebounding and playmaking has improved.

Agree 100% on Posh’s defense. If it’s not trying to steal the ball 60 feet from the hoop, it’s half-assed and lazy and guys are going right by him. Often times he’s the culprit when a shooter gets open after one/two drive and kicks.

BTW- would you believe me if I told you AJ’s +/- is only better than Kolby Kings? They are the only two players with a negative +\-. Yes not playing against the cupcakes as much certainly plays a role there.

Anyone know the deal with Curbelo, is he done playing? It's looking like he won't be back next year, He is friends with Jones, Soriano,Traore and Pinzon which also makes me wonder how that might affect their decisions for next year as well.
Irrespective of being a friend (outside of Pinzon an Tarore, not sure whether there is friendship), they know (and probably knew).

Good post . Mullin was always slow foot speed wise but , had quick hands and tallied a lot of steals by the way . In College and NBA . Ponds similarly had quick hands and stole the ball a lot . If I recall he had some good games against Marcus Howard of Marquette . Simon did as well against Howard . Of course , there were a few games too, where Howard went off against us . Ponds had to do a lot on that team . Score gets a A, Play PG gets a A minus and for his size was a good Rebounder gets a B plus .
