Kentucky and Kansas boards

Don't know how many of you check out other teams message boards but I decided to look at Kentucky and Kansas and get their take on the diallo recruitment. It is so frustrating and annoying to listen to these fans talk as if they are entitled to these top guys and how dare they even consider another program. so funny to hear the Kentucky fans put down kansas's program. In sorry but calipari doesn't make these guys into nba players. These guys are McDonald's all Americans and would be going to the nba regardless if they are at Kentucky or most any other school. Calipari is like joe torre was with his all star Yankees teams. He managed egos well and got them to buy into the team concept. These Kentucky all stars would have better stats on any other team and you can't tell me that would hurt their draft stocks. Plus nobody talks about the guys who regress with them. The Kentucky fans argue about the regression of a bunch of the Kansas top ranked players. And sure some of it is true. But they are pretty blind to a few of their own regressing even though one guy pointed out a few such as the Harrison's, poythress, Marcus lee and dakari Johnson. All guys that were supposed to go top first round only to see their stocks dropped. Poythress and lee are still there when that certainly wasn't the plan. The Kansas boards are also a little pompous too but certainly not as bad as the Kentucky boards. They both really don't consider us a player in the diallo sweepstakes and I hope diallo proves them wrong because I love his game but would love for him to shove it in those respective schools faces. Come on diallo. Play part of the time at Kentucky or be a main focus here in the bright lights and own nyc. You can write your ticket to the nba at St. John's just as easily as you can those other places. Ask Mullin.

Kentucky fans think their sh@t don't stink. I was so happy they lost last year.

Spend enough time on this board. Reading a Kentucky board would make me sick.

Curiosity got the best of me. Wish It didn't. Made me sick too.

Great job Eric and I appreciate how much effort you put into your post!!!
It's early but I absolutely believe that Chris Mullin will have us - eventually - where the UKy Kansas Duke etc are - in that realm more or less...just need a little patience
all the best

Are they wrong though? UK wins these recruiting battles every time. We saw it half a year ago when they came out of nowhere and got Briscoe. In terms of Diallo, even our own insiders are saying it'll be Kansas or Kentucky.

Got a text from a friend who is a Kansas alum asking about Cheick. He's an extremely knowledgeable sports fan and very complimentary of Mullin and all things St. John's. He's pretty connected, but doesn't have a clue about Diallo.

I told him that I think he is ours.

Yes I do think they are wrong when it comes to them saying come "here" and You will go to the nba. Go to St. John's. You will end up staying 4 years and play in Europe. briscoe on St. John's would be going to the nba just like he would with Kentucky. Diallo will not hurt his chances and probably will raise them at St. John's in my opinion. Jordan will get him the ball plenty as will the other pg's Mullin will bring in. Don't join the evil empire. Take down the evil empire.

UK basketball is in another world and that's okay. In my eyes there is nothing better than to have a villain. I want us to get so good that beating Syracuse is expected and we compete with Duke and UK every year.

Plus, their boards are full of Kentucky fans. They should think they are getting every player they are after just as I think we are going to get every player we recruit. I also assume that everyone we do get is going to turn into another great!

Yes but they had slice then now we have him Hope it helps

To your point, those kids are going to get drafted no matter where they go to school. Kentucky isn't really big into player development. Players don't really need to be developed in college.

With that being said, if these players are going to the NBA regardless of where they go to college, why would they not go to Kentucky, or even Kansas? Basketball is god and is all that matters in these towns, and the players are treated like kings. Sure, NYC is one of the best cities in the world, but basketball is also somewhat of an afterthought in the city. So if you already know you are going to be drafted, why not go somewhere and live the good life first?

F uk and that pos calipari, he thinks that if he wants a top recruit then the kid is rightfully his.
Already lost Briscoe to the sob, hate to lose Diallo to him. If anything I hope he goes to ku.

Im sure the atmosphere and all would be very tempting for any player. But don't go there because you think that's your only ticket to the nba. That's all I'm saying. These fans all make it sound like it is a future career ending choice.
You either want to beat em or join em. Make it in New York and win here and you will be a lot more famous than another face in the crowd at Kentucky.

I hate watching their fans on TV when I watch a UK or KU game and root for the other team. You'd have to pay me to read their boards. You guys need to use your time more wisely.

I guarantee you that if Max Hooper and Christian Jones went to Kentucky, they'd already be in the NBA. ;)

I don't care to read other team boards. As far as player regression, the Harrison's didn't regress IMHO as they were probably better this year than last. Coming out of high school and playing AAU and Jigh School ball then playing D1 ball is different. Scouts got to see them more against overall better competition. And other kids emerge. Being. McD AA guarantees you hype and proves you can dominate High School competition but that doesn't mean you will make that same jump in college and the pros.

I have said previously, if you are good enough, the Pros will find you no matter where you play.

It is not a future career ending decision to not go to Kentucky. However, the the national exposure, the scouts at every game, the pro days, the constant media attention....that is all more than you are going to get anywhere else.

Make it in NY and you will be more famous? Maybe so. But you will be more famous in NY only. Outside of the NYC and the surrounding areas, not that many people care about St Johns. I'm guessing that alot more people know the Harrison brothers than they do DLo. I'm from Pennsylvania, and every time I bring up St Johns to someone, this is usually the response I get, "Oh St Johns, didn't they used to be really good a long time ago." Being another face in the crowd at Kentucky is still alot better than being the face of a program that not alot of people (outside of their city) care about anymore....

Agree but thats all in our recent past. I am saying that is about to change as mullin and crew will bring us back to the limelight and make SJU relevant again. He has the potential to bring this program even more relevant than when he was playing in the 80's. Then the casual fan with know who our players are. And the Harrison's are known a lot more nowadays after that press conference. ;)
