Keep this in mind wrt Julian coming back

Many assume he is and again if I had to guess I would say yes.  But I don't think it is 100%.

But he will be looking closely at the roster over the next few weeks.  You think he wants to come back if he thinks they did not do a major upgrade to the roster after all of these defections?  You think he wants to come back to a rebuilding team?

Remember we all talked about the mass exodus at Pitt and how that would make Justin feel right?  Think about it.

Julian comes back. We have our 2 best players back. Wusu who had the coaching staffs trust to close games as a freshman ahead of guys who just transferred.  A 6’11 transfer from Texas Tech recruited by Beard. A freshman wing who isn’t coming here to sit. A veteran guard from Vermont who can shoot and defend.

we will add talent. Question marks I understand. But the sky is falling take? I’m not buying it.

Of course nothing is 100% certain on most things, especially here :)

I had this exact exchange with LJSA on another thread. You can bet your bottom dollar that other top programs are putting out feelers to both brothers right now with things like "we can elevate you to a lottery pick next year", "you'll play in the big dance", "you could help us win a NC", etc etc etc. The Champ brothers would be foolish not to listen. And to see what's going on with each of their respective programs before deciding what to do. All options for them should be on the table, and I believe that they are on the table, even if they have not entered the portal yet. They still have plenty of time.

I 've spoken to 3 of the most well respected and positive posters over the past few days. Guys who almost always see the glass as half full(unlike me). Each of them has extreme concerns not only about the current state of affairs with our program, but with the future of our program under the new rules of engagement. So, while I wouldn't say that the sky is falling, I'd say this it's still pretty damn overcast right now

Walter Berry was coming back until he wasn't.

I do hope the optimists are right. Otherwise we're toast next year.

I never said the sky was falling.  But don't assume anything either.  Don't assume you can pair Julian with anyone and he will just come back.

And the larger point about the roster is not that SJU will be left with a short roster.  Nobody doubts they will fill out the roster.  The supply is more than the demand.

The issue we all know is the quality.

Right, so let's not assume that he's not coming back either!  You started the thread with the assumption that Julian may not come back based on the way the roster will look like in several weeks.

BTW, this will game of musical chairs will take many weeks if not months to figure itself out.   At the same time Champ will probably take months to figure out his standing and what he wants to do.

All everyone is doing is assuming and wishing at this point!

Of course, who is assuming that?

Saying "may" is the key here.  You do understand that right?  By definition that qualifies the remark itself.

The point is by assuming Julian comes back no matter WHO they bring in is not an assumption I would want to make,

It's embedded in the assumption.  What is the biggest reason for why many believe he is coming back?  Because he is not a cinch first rounder.  Correct?  In other words it was never "and he loves his current team and his teammates."

What if we assume that but SJU roster does not look good? Could he use that as an excuse to jump to the pros or worse yet transfer out himself?

Of course, who is assuming that?

All I did was pose the question.  What if Julian determines he is not getting drafted and we all assume he is coming back for that reason.  But the roster has turned over in a big way and the replacements are big question marks.

All I did was pose that scenario which maybe I missed it was not really discussed wrt his return.

All of that is speculation mind you but it puts added pressure on filling these remaining spots.  That is all.

I get it Fordham. We’re all hanging by a string waiting for news. Were programmed to expect bad things to happen. That’s SJU fandom.

A month ago we were an OT from going to the tourney. Now it feels like we’re starting almost over.

here’s to hoping for the best!

I wouldn't be concerned at all right now. The only 2 legit BE caliber players leaving are Moore and Williams. One had attitude problems and the other unfortunately can't stay healthy. I'm good with the current roster for next year if we can add a couple more quality transfers. Posh and Julian could be the best 1-2 duo in the conference next season. I don't think he will get a first round promise and return for a dominant junior season.

Assuming we won that game, didn't  we still need to win 2 more games against pretty tough competition in order to get to the tourney?

CMA and staff have gotten more out of Moore, Posh, Champ, Earlington, Dunn, Wusu, Williams and maybe one or two others than anyone hoped for when they landed here.   This hasn't gone unnoticed around the conference and around the country.    I'll guess that transfers in are already in process and while this is a whole new era in front of us, we will be better than okay next season.

Couldn’t you as easily make the argument he’d actually be enticed by a weaker roster because he could come back and showcase his skills more
