Joseph Uchebo, C

Think Jamal branch will want to stay now?
he transferred once I dont see him leaving.

I think he has a lot of upside. I think there will be plenty of minutes for him still

We could really use GG next season. It will be his third with the team (5th overall) and he played huge minutes his first year. He'll be ready from Jump Street and he runs the court very well for a pf/c.

Balamou has to be maintained at all costs. His ceiling is simply too high to let him go anywhere.

Bourgault still has a lot of value for this team. Even with Hooper, this doesn't figure to be a good three-point shooting team. You can never have enough shooters, and Bourgault will likely come back much more improved with an offseason of knowing what he needs to work on.

I really don't want to see anyone go, but there is one kid that I think could be spared.

Reading between the lines it sounds like you think we could afford to let Jones transfer.
I'd have to disagree. If we were to sign Uchebo, I'd have no problem with Gift transferring.
Even if you like his game, with Sanchez and Obekpa here there's not going to be a lot of playing time available for Gift.
I like Gift too. But he would not only be competing w Sanchez, and Sampson but also CO and Uchebo if he signs. I also dont think Branch transfers Who knows Jorden could be 1 and done and gone by Branchs sr year.

He's the starting PG until he is dethroned. If he is confident, he should have no problem with this as long as they don't hire Jordan's father as a coach like they did with Branch's competition with the Aggies. Branch was the #51 recruit himself and has two years of experience. He shouldn't be afraid of anyone. Three guard sets all game long wowing this group...heck maybe even four at once.

Wait.... Rasheed took the last ship right? If so maybe someone else may be looking to leave.... Felix? Marco?

I suspect someone may be leaving.

Uchebo adds size, as well as being respected on the offensive end and garnering rebounds.

It still wouldn't shock me if GG graduates this year and uses his last of year of eligibility somewhere else
Don't see him getting much playing time next year at St John's
Had also read that he wasn't happy about being asked to redshirt and it turned out to be for naught
Had Lav known how the Sanchez situation would play out, GG would have played last season and would have helped us win more games than we did

I do admit I am just a fan of the program and may not have the in depth basketball knowledge as many on this board seem to have. However GG did not really impress me with his play in the Big East his first year. He seemed to have poor hands ( a lot of dropped passes to the post) and not much of an offensive game. He did however rebound a bit which I do agree would have helped this year. I believe if the staff worked on his offensive skills this past year and there was improvement he will be an asset this year. If we get JU then he and GG will split time at the 5 and Sanchez is a 4. Again, just my thoughts as a fan not a basketball coach or expert by any means!

I was disappointed in Branch's play after he came back from the injury
Hopefully, he will be back to his previous form next season
With the "bigs" we have will next season (ie: Sanchez, Opekpa, GG), I don't forsee many 4 guard sets unless we need to press

Looks like I forgot Opekpa in my brilliant analsys!

Take this for what it's worth.... LOils like we have been on him only in thr last 2 months....and there is mutual interest! That's all I was told

If Gift transfers and we get Ucheba, I would be happy because we could really use him in 14. But, if he transfers and we dont pick up a quality big I will be dissappointed. Furthermore, Im not convinced we are targeting Uchebo. I think Gift could be helpfull next year and I dont think he transfers.

One of the advantages we have with Sanchez and Gift is that they are older, which should mean more mature and more physically developed. We have a lot of talented young bucks on next year's team, but I like the idea that we have a couple of "old men" who could provide some leadership in the locker room.

I think Branch came back from injury too quickly, and actually had the injury nagging him the rest of the year. He was simply not the same player after he came back.
