Johnnies Tidbits

Good for him...glad he's doing well overseas.

Mvouika played with a lot of heart and emotion that first Mullin year... sometimes made an unbearable to watch game, watchable.

"For the fist time in decades, St John's basketball has a true program. The three most important positions on campus are fully aligned: University Pres, AD and HC. The accolades this week speaks to a true basketball renaissance.

Work to be done this week at MSG, but the future is bright".

Tierney nailed it with that comment.  Nailed the President, AD and coach.  For a long time we were a wreck at all 3.  Rebuilding has begun.

Can anyone remember when SJU did this well in BE awards?  Back to Mullin/Berry days?  Best I can remember is Louie COY and Mullin POY in 85 and Louie and Berry POY in 86.

Damn productive year.  Team ball produces team results

I imagine Cain would have gotten MIP when Mahoney was COY.

Terry Dehere of the Hall was POY when Mo was COY.  Cain was definitely our POY.

These "What SJU must do" articles have been circulating annually since Lou retired.
Who would have ever thought the impact would be this drastic?

But does the "Ya'll" in "Ya’ll have yet to see what he is capable of" necessarily refer to St. John's fans?

It is my understanding that all Big East teams receive money from their four conference members being in the NCAA tourney.  Does anyone know the approximate amount each team receives?  Also
do they receive money from the woman’s tourney (UCONN).

it is a complicated equation. The NCAA sends units worth more each round of advancement to the conference. A team winning the championship gets 6 units.  The Big East then takes a % themselves for operating expenses, like the mob, and then sends the remaining money to each school based on if they made the tourney (they get more) Im not sure if there is any disbursement from the women’s tourney.

with all the players in the transfer portal I expect Iona to come up with a loaded roster next year.
a great matchup at the garden would draw a solid crowd.  Iona vs St. John’s.  Buy I suspect St. John’s would turn it down.  Prestige thing.
