Jim Calhoun Taking Medical Leave

Don't have any particular love for Calhoun, and I think he's carried himself like a jerk at times. But I wish the UCONN program nothing but good luck. I want us to beat them at their best, having them struggle doesn't do anything for me.

I agree, Desco. I'm also someone who likes to beat a team when they are good. Not when they are struggling.

I'd be lying if I said the 4 game losing streak didn't cross my mind.

But spinal stenosis can be really really bad and can end a career. Someone in my office has it and at one point he couldn't even walk to the elevator without being in such pain he had to sit down and rest. ( he's now taking neurontin ) and after taking it for awhile it's helped to the point where he can walk further but still not that far.

Another guy who used to work in my office has it so bad nothing is even working and he can barely leave the house. When some of us got together for dinner he could barely even get out of his car without help

Definitely a potential career ender if the pain is that bad

Mike, you are so right about Spinal Stenosis. I had it for one and a half years, pain killers did not help. One can't get up from a sitting position, needing to push off a table or desk. As a result I developed two torn rotator cuffs. Getting out of a car or stepping up a curve hurt like hell. Had to buy a lift chair; slept most of my nights there. Couldn't sleep in bed even with a pillow between my legs, too much pain. My spinal surgeon gave me three epidurals in one year and recommended therapy. I really thought I would never get better to play golf again. But thanks to alot of prayers I recovered, having to do alot of stretching everyday.

Jack, glad to hear you've recovered. That sounds pretty bad. As for UConn, they've represented the Big East well on the court and I am also one who would rather them stay strong as a program, but have us get the better of them. Need the league to be strong to help us get strong for the tourney.
