Jayson Williams: 60 Minutes Sports

Anyone who after viewing that segment on 60 Minutes thinks JW should be hired as our big man coach is way off. He needs to concentrate on his own survival for the foreseeable future.

I made a comment about Jayson Williams being our big man coach. It was a joke but I realize now was in bad taste. I have very mixed feelings about Jayson as he has done some unforgiving things but also understand that he has problems that I am sure almost everyone can relate to. I do feel sympathy for him as well.

I hear what you're saying Andrew, but I almost feel as though the two issues(alcoholism and narcissism/recklessness/entitlement) need to be separated. Of course I am not speaking as a professional, but am speaking as someone who has seen very close friends and family members struggle with substance abuse problems.

NBD Andrew2! I like what he said as a nutshell of how he was successful in then NBA. Outwork and outhustle. Doesn't require a lot of coaching for a player to choose to do those things. It is a personal character thing. Seems to me for example, that Lovett really put in a lot of time on himself. Jayson went to work on his strength and conditioning and got really strong. Then out-hustled on the floor. Kind of in contrast to his career at SJU which was nice but not characterized by hard work or athleticism and often looked soft in comparison to guys that didn't make the NBA or didn't have anywhere near the career
