@TheRecruitScoop: 2013 Gill St. Bernard's (NJ) PG Jaren Sina tells me he remains wide open in the process following in-home visits w/ Alabama & Seton Hall.
If this is true, we need to go after this kid.
Agree completely , we need more than the boom or bust recruiting philosophy IMHO.
Sina would bring a lot to the table for this team.
What boom or bust recruiting philosophy? We have one scholarship and we have targeted Jordan. So we offer Sina or Severe at the very last moment after not recruiting them and all the work for Jordan is thrown away? What message does that send to recruits down the road? We obviously may or may not get Jordan but it realy sends the wrong message to not stay the course. I am as disappointed in our year as any realistic fan but Lavin and co. need to follow their plan, not resort to panic. Things have been tough but it was no easy task these guys signed up for. Real rocky year for sure but the program didn't catch many breaks either with the Harkless and Dunlap jumps, Harrison's shenanigans and Branch's injuries, not to mention Sanchez and Lavin's cancer. We need to stabilize and stabilizing means sticking to your plan, not panickiing.
Lavin never should have said he's ok with missing out on our '13 targets. You can't handcuff yourself to a recruit, regardless of your ship count.
Jordan wanted to announce (to whom we don't know) back in November and his coach told him to wait.
You can't feel sorry for recruits' feelings when they don't feel sorry for yours.
Jordan had one official at SJU and attended our game vs Nova. But he's been to Temple games countless times.
It's an arms race. We have one ship and a solid roster in place for next year. As a coach, you always should cover your behind with contingency plans. We can't wait until 4/15 to start chasing other players. That's absurd.
Obekpa's recruitment dragged out and we pursued other players. If Obekpa wanted to catch feelings, that's on him.
Jordan knows exactly where he wants to go at this point. If his first name was Michael, you wait for him. It's not.
Sina brings skillsets to the table that this team sorely needs. You'd have to be stupid not to have exploratory talks with him. Especially seeing that his father is a Coach and knows exactly how this recruiting game works. Just be upfront with him.
