Actually with us it's life. But on a less serious note there isnt one poster here who is so important to hate another poster. Bunch of us guys got together today and it's all good and we talked about a lot of stuff. No matter what one person thinks Pro Mullin Anti Mullin Pro Lavin Anti Lavin etc etc not one poster here including me is so important that their views Trump ( no pun intended ) everyone else. All of our delivery styles are different and some of us post our opinions too much but the golden rule in life treat people the way you want to be treated

But good or bad there isnt one poster here ( non owner ) who should be complaining about anyone else when we might be just as bad just different delivery style

Personally I dont know how Paul deals with all of us sometimes

A golden rule for posting with me is don’t post anything you wouldn’t say to a person if you met them.

Jack,
You are young enough to learn that some grown men here, many in their 60's and 70's are routinely shamed into silence. Some old timers long preceeding some younger fans just speak their minds and know that the likes, karma bullshit scores, and lessons some CYO girls coaches try to shove down your throat are mostly popularity contests. It's like when you were in high school and there were always some dipshits at the same table like the ROTC dweebs in Animal House. It's no different here. Kudos to you for still having that youthful sense of humor who doesn't need a smiley face icon to make sure you are not offending. You will also see that Mike Zaun was a recent student like yourself and this site severely lacks the input from younger perspectives. I would love to see many more students become members as rowdy as it could get because grown men here are not exactly models of behavior.
I'm sure Mike appreciates your inquiry.

You're a piece of work . All rational opinions can be shared here but lonely young and old men repeating stuff over and over and over again with little basis is not only tedious to read, but has dangerous precedents.

In the last century a madman tried to murder an entire race of people by inciting old hatreds with familiar themes - they are not us, they steal from us, they are cheap, ugly, wretched people. Dramatic example, yes? He failed but not before 6 million of them were dead.

Not only have some dredged up the same basic bullshit that had the most notorious of posters hating Lavin - you know. Posting that he faked his cancer, faked his mourning over his dad's death, made comments about where his wife wanted his live, where he lived, how he spent his time and money. Nothing was off limits , because you know, we are just rabid fans and fans can say whatever they want.

Now, the lazy, absent coach happens to be our own hometown hero. Miscreants feel it appropriate to report his whereabouts in the offseason, his dedication to his job, even speak negatively about family members of his. You know, he should be here all the time because like, we are rabid fans, and we deserve that, and uh, we can post whatever we want.

We can say whatever we want because umm you know, we are fans and this is an open forum, ya know. Like I can even seethe at who I believe is hanging around the program who is a dirtbag because you know, I'm a fan and I have impeccable sources.

Sorry, this isnt an open blog to repeat and repeat and repeat some of the ridiculous stuff that gets posted here ad nauseum.

Only adult morons would post personal attacks on coaches and staff on a site that states its mission as SUPPORTING sju badketball. Only a sociopath would post negative or personal stuff about the coach's family. Bobby knight rightfully grabbed a rude and disrespectful student by the collar who likely shit his pants before making it a campus and national incident that caused his firing.

This coach, and the one before him would not be in the wrong for smacking the shit out if some young and old men for defaming his character and dragging his family into this basketball forum.

Shame on those guys who do this repetitively, and if anyone here thinks I am speaking about them I probably am.

You know, not you personally, cuz like, i am a fan, and i just post what i believe is true. You know?

Hi Beast - I like much - not all of course - of what you post especially:

Not only have some dredged up the same basic bullshit that had the most notorious of posters hating Lavin ( and now our own Chris Mullin) - you know. Posting that he faked his cancer, faked his mourning over his dad's death, made comments about where his wife wanted his live, where he lived, how he spent his time and money. Nothing was off limits , because you know, we are just rabid fans and fans can say whatever they want.

Let’s just be as civil and respectful as we can. That’s not inconsistent w age, education, opinion or whatever else - we are, after all, fans of the Storm and want the best for the team and program. “ Malice toward none ”!
All the best,
SS&G

Glad you guys got together over there and hopefully I will meander over there the next MSG game while also trying to meet some of the guys in my section.

Thankfully I never had to make a dating profile cause it would sound that awful.

It's actually pretty funny that at the game, I happened to be sitting next to a huge fan, who knew everything about the team just like us. I asked if he was a poster on this site and he said he reads it from time to time, but people are too negative on here.

Hey , it was really nice to meet you and put a face with your name. Like a close family member who roots hard for uconn, I can excuse your affiliation with that school. Looking forward to the next time, and get to chat with you a little also.

I used to wonder why so many people just read. Or didn't even know about the site. But I think many do they just don't want to admit it honestly. Because it does get stupid and crazy far too often.

This is first and foremost a forum to discuss St. John’s basketball, but what goes along with that is the fact that topic is enjoyed by a group of fans that primarily share some basic values or we still wouldn’t be so engaged in the topic as there are many other things that we could be doing.

I started posting on a regular basis about six years ago when I was not in the best place in my life. At times I engaged in back and forth with other posters because I was using the site as an outlet for some of my personal frustrations. I also felt early on that I received some harsh feedback because I was a newcomer but most of it was a reaction to some of the negativity that was in my posts.

I am a grown man who has gone from my early 40’s to my late 40’s over these six years and I can truly say that I have matured over that time. I am still not 100% where I want to be but I am moving in the right direction and maybe if we are still posting for another six that I will be even closer to where I want to be.

My point is that while we all share a love of St. John’s basketball we can all try to do it in the most civil way possible. Treating others the way want to be treated and not posting something that you would say to another in person are great rules that I believe I have learned to follow and I am not someone who have always seen things that way. While we are similar in many ways, we are not clones. I expect different viewpoints will be expressed and that is great. I would like to see a reduction in repetitive posts but I have learned to skip a lot more then I used to. If you truly feel that this website is a popularity contest you should still go with the flow and fight your inner desire to be combative. You will feel a lot better if you do.

Did you ever post on BEB?

When I first joined these various sites, I used to enjoy the feuds and negative posts. A running joke between my daughter (a huge fan and alum) and myself is “Meet me in Howard Beach”—- a line said by one poster when he challenged another one to a fight on the old BEB. Now I find them tedious and just skim through most posts. I seldom look at who wrote the post before I read. If something interesting is said, I go back to the top to see who wrote it.

I am one of the middle of the road guys who is neither a Mullin hater nor a pie in the sky guy. Unfortunately, that means that both extremes annoy me.
