Is there anything official?

if this does fall through we will get the "APRIL FOOL'S" headline in the papers and the incompetency of SJU will reach heights we havent seen yet.

it would look very very bad....a PR nightmare and i would expect heads at SJU to roll if this is the case.

We each have a unique style, it's un-malleable DNA I suppose. A bit cynical, no? Heads rolling? The entire planet " SJU" is incompetent? Does that include all posters such as you and I??? I hope not.

Wow!
Nevertheless, all the best

How many dream team members went on to coach a college team ?

Or maybe better put. How many times has a kid had the chance to play college ball for an original dream team member ?

Mike, c'mon. You realize by asking that question you are just BEGGING for someone to bring up Clyde Drexler. Bad karma dude.

Let's just hope Chris is more Mayor than Glide. It is certainly an impactful hiring but all those who are proclaiming the glory days (that barely were) are back again sound not unlike the coachspeak fluff and bluster of STJs recently deposed coach. I am on board but not entirely assured.

True but I think it's a big selling point and I consider them 2 totally different type players with Mullin who got every ounce of talent out of himself 10 times over. Clyde was great but I never thought of him as a potential coach the way I see Mullin and Houston Cougars are what got me into college basketball as a fan

"Sophomore point guard Rysheed Jordan has been mulling going pro, but is said to be intrigued by the Mullin hiring and may consider coming back to play for a coach with as many NBA connections as Mullin. The same is true for junior center Chris Obekpa. Louisiana guard Brandon Sampson, who committed but did not sign, has re-opened recruiting since the move with Lavin but is said to still be considering St. John's. A team with those three and Diallo would be formidable out of the gate."

From above article

BOOM. GET ALL 4

And if we do we can share a fifth! Bourbon being my preference :)
What a fine time to be a redman fan, I am grateful!

All the best.

Clyde Drexler did it at Houston for 2 years, so it has happened before. That was a disaster.

Mullin strikes me has much better prepared for the job then Clyde was (who took it immediately after his playing days were over). I also think Mullin was a more intelligent player then Clyde, and is more willing to do the dirty work then Clyde, who kind of "glieded" on the job for 2 years.

And you just know he's bringing in a great staff!
Maybe even kicked that around weeks ago...knowing what he was doing (lining up his staff) before formally accepting...

@NYDNSports: BREAKING: Chris Mullin to become St. John’s coach, accepts job via @RogRubin and @FisolaNYDNhttp://t.co/zsQhTMtEXzhttp://t.co/hL47LsKQLl

Great news, Paultzman. I can finally exhale.

You were good Ken, I kept my net from my emergency tech days!

LOL. I was thinking of your "prior profession" when I wrote that. Thing is, I'm acrophobic, so just the thought of going out on a ledge gives me the willies. I'm more the self-asphyxiation type.

Great feelings across the board for most part. May be time for Redmen Picnic. Two weeks ago you would have better chance of getting Crips & Bloods together for tea. :)

Hilarious and true. What a great day. Never thought it possible. Chris did not want the job after Norm.

Isaiah Whitehead

"‏@Isaiah_W15: Chris Mullin Is A Good Look For The Johnnies

Wait Whitehead is saying this? Jordan is intrigued? I thought these kids didn't know who Mullin was?

That was exactly why I posted the tweet. Even if these kids haven't seen him play, I'm sure they all saw the 30for30 on ESPN last year about the Big East where Mullin had a big part. Also their parents and coaches know exactly who he is.

I've been suggesting Mullin on this board for months when few were but recently became skeptical and thought we should go after someone proven.

I'm fully on board now. I think we'll have a great team next year. Jordan and CO probably coming back, Sampson will likely recommit, and I'm actually feeling good about Diallo for the first time.

haaaaaaa. I was talking to jerseyshorejohnny down in charlotte and he had the idea of doing a redmen.com dinner over the summer in the city.

Maybe we should do a redmen.com final 4 or finals night out in manhattan to watch a game

And then we sneak jack Williams into scores

@FisolaNYDN: Chris Mullin is apparently arriving in New York tomorrow. All these years later the kid from Brooklyn is finally coming home. Just awesome.
Isola is another big Mullin fan.

On twitter, Roger Rubin is reporting as of 3 minutes ago, that Chris Mullin has accepted, and will be the 20th coach in St. John's history.

This is the news I have been checking for on this site all day.

Welcome home.

Are you saying for this years Final Four or next year when we are in the Final Four?
