Is it to early to look at next year?

Here`s my prediction for next year.

First off, I`ll say that I think that Jones could replace Sanchez (can guy practice with the team during a redshirt year? If so then we better hope that he improved over this year), GG was just in there to eat up space in the middle, I want Adonisto be a presense in the middle, and Balamou will replce Marco who did nothing.
We don`t know besides Adonis is coming in, but they won`t be much of an impact player anyway, and will come off the bench.

If CO and Jordan both return then I could see 22 wins. Is that likely? I don`t know, but that`s what I would expect.
If one leave then I could see 17-19 wins.
If both leave then it will be a disaster.

Jack Williams already said Jordan is coming back via twitter

Now hope CO comes back with an attitude adjustment, and hope with another year under their belt that they improve.
fingers crossed

Yeah well with the same group coming back, we have no choice but to hope right?
Maybe they turn into Norm seniors during Lavs first year.

They were 17-16 and a first round NIT exit after beating no ranked teams the year before so you never know. They got 5 more wins. I'd like to see this team get 5 more wins too..

It's never too early for fans on a message board to speculate about the next season. Yes, reshirts can practice.
Jordan is the prodigy on this team...we go as far as he takes us. If he comes back as a stud with a jumper we are exponentially better than we were to start this past season. CO and Sampson should be much better...I really expect CO to turn the corner and become more consistent.

Sanchez really didn't give us anything, so replacing him won't be hard. He didn't play good D or hit he boards well and he had poor shot selection. Poor kid would have been so much better with a second year.

There are so many very good and immediately eligible vets to add. It would be great to add Mason and Lee. I think we have a great shot at both if the staff wants them.

I won't expect much out of Jones until proven otherwise. He is an extra body and 5-10 mpg at this point...a GG replacement. Hopefully he is much better.

I don't want to predict a win total becuase I was very disappoitned with this year's team and they need to prove a lot before I jump back on. No way they miss the tournament, thouogh...but just making it would be a HUGE disappointment next season.

What makes you think Mason is even transferring?

That's all we got now is looking to next year. Rumors out there that Lavin,CO won't return. We also have to see how the recruiting pans out. We will know a lot more soon. It does appear Jorden is returning which is a big relief. With the rumors about him earlier this season and his tonsillitis ,I was a little worried.

I don't see Balamou as a replacement for Marco, but I see him taking some of Dom's minutes. He may be just as athletic, shoots better, and hits the boards harder. That's coming from the few minutes I have seen of him. As for Jones, will not replace what Sanchez offered unless he is vastly better. And there's no reason to think he is. he just showed no propensity for rebounding the ball. That's what is needed the most.

The only reference I have seen was a NYT article in late February. It did not affirm his leaving, but said it was possible. It is noted in the latter part of this piece. Perhaps Marillac has more current information.

I have heard from a reliable source is expected to leave Niagara. I think SJU and SH are likely landing spots, but that is just me speculating. It'd be great to have a Mason legacy at St. John's and amazing to see another Mason play at the Garden.

Just read Baldi`s thread about Lavin going.
With one year remaining then yes I could see him getting fired or even him resigning, but with two years remaining, nah I just can`t see that happening.
Now to keep an open mind, because anything is possible right?
If he leaves/is fired then it happens I`d guess some time next week. I mean if he is gone then why prolong it, that would make no sense. So I`d say by next Friday.

He's not going anywhere. Speculating on that is just going to hurt our recruitment. He will lead St. John's to its third 20-win season in five years (one with cancer) and he'd be the first coach in a long time to lay that claim. He's not leaving his first recruiting class early...no way. Let's put that to rest.

They have no need for him. Kelly Oubre is a top five pick in next year's draft as a SG/SF and they return Naadir Thorpe, Conner Frankamp, and Frank Mason at the guards spots. They also return Perry Ellis as a 3/4, Andrew White as a 2/3, and a ton of other forwards. Not to mention Wayne Selden at SG who might return. They signed five-star big man, Cliff Alexander to push Perry Ellis down to three spot.

Assuming we can sweep DePaul next season, I like our chances for 9th place.

That's a big assumption as they almost beat us twice this year.

OK guys, judging by your posts, it IS too early to think about next year.

But, it's hard to imagine being better than this year with Sampson gone.

Being a ST. JOHN'S fan is pure torture.
