That is absolute nonsense. Any defense at this level hedges screens, otherwise the screen just leaves the ball handler wide open. The only change Pitino made was putting Mitchell on Lipsey when Darling got in foul trouble.
The fact is Lipsey didn’t even need the screen when Pitino tried Sanon or Jackson on him, he just absolutely blew right by them.
I guess you didn’t watch any of our games last year when we switched every single screen all season

Never the reason for a win or loss but the refs were atrocious. Some of these guys are bought and paid for, don’t kid yourself thinking otherwise.

Almost all of these guys are coming here from losing situations. These players were on really underperforming or flat out bad teams. That’s become our culture and is taking time to root it out.

The defacto PG Darling getting this amount of PT says so much more about how the coaches view Jackson than it does Darling himself. Jackson has no defensive discipline, turns the ball over way too much and generally shows no lead guard qualities. The guy is unguardable at his best though so at some point this situation must change.

Darling picks up his dribble every other possession, cannot shoot a lick and is a target for the opposition to attack every time down the floor. Need to get this sorted asap!!

Go to CANZ for the lap dance.

It's still far too early in the season to say what will or won't occur, but we may have been better off only recruiting one of Sanon or Jackson, and put the other bucks towards a point guard. Darling is solid and has clearly shown he can play at this level, but as a few others have stated, he's probably not a 30mpg guy.
Completely agree.

Without Darling, we lose this game by 10. Don't kid yourself, he's super important to this roster. It's just that we need another PG to back him up. That was the recruiting miss.
I think the recruiting miss for a team that has aspirations for a national championship was not getting a high quality starting pg w Darling being the backup.

Honestly I’m more bullish on this team now than I was 4 hours ago
Thank you. Not Thanksgiving and we’ve played right there with high level teams. It’s not perfect, and winning matters of course, but sure as hell not doomsday either. We have a high level team with some issues to figure out.

I just think this team has so much more room to get better once they figure out roles/rotations etc. Maybe it never happens but this team has much more room to grow between now and March than last year’s team did

Still think they are a Dance team, but a title contender, as was suggested by many preseason, seems a reach. A long way to go, but I just don’t feel we have enough guard fire power, defensive smarts and consistency to complement our very good interior play to make hay in Dance.

Repole will have to hire some people to manage his NIL money going forward. I would be upset to pay Jackson so much money and have Darling playing significantly more minutes.
Either play the kid or fire someone in the office

I can already tell you that if Sanon and Jackson don’t improve a lot on defense by the Baylor game the SoCal freshman is going to bulldoze right through. And if the refs today were any indication, it won’t matter whether it’s offensive charging or not.

Still very early within the season boys, the one thing this team lacks desperately besides a PG is go to scorer, the last few years we had primary bucket getters when we needed it . Hopefully Jackson or Joson gain the confidence they desperately need to become that for us, ( and what they were projected to do) if that doesn’t happen I can see this being a roller coaster of a season. Hopefully I’m wrong. (If only RJ stuck around!!!!) just thinking out loud.
I love Zuby, and he’s a capable passer and free throw shooter, still not sure I want him to be the one with the ball in his hands late to make a play. Hopkins for me.

There is no way Ian goes to pro next year. Will Ian stay in St. John's with same NIL?

They will be a tough matchup wherever they are seeded but I agree they would need a lot to go right to go on any kind of streak.
