I agree. I would prefer to start Mitchell with Hopkins and Zuby, but you can only do that if you have two of Sanon, Jackson, Sellers in the backcourt. And right now you can't do that. So you have to start Darling and if you do that then you can't start Mitchell because you need more offense.

Which lands us with your lineup and bench, with which I agree.

I could do with less Ayo, though. He's useful for minutes here and there but I do not think he should be a rotation player on this team. He and Liotopoulos can split a part-time role depending on what's needed in any given game.

Mitchell as the 6th man is the most obvious move we've ever had here. We need to let our shooters space the floor and get set up.
Ayo is a monster. We always look better against the best teams when he's in. He might be best 8th/9th man in the country.

So we agree. You, me and Larry Wright. Kumbaya at its finest.
Except that by "monster" I'm sure you mean "fine role player."
I am going to start work on The Marillac English Dictionary so when you overstate things people can look up what they really mean. :ROFLMAO:

There definitely needs to be a book of Marillacisms 😀

He's got another year left too. They haven't made it official...I still wonder if that is Pitino defending him from other schools.
Are you sure? How would he have another year? He has no COVID year and started over 30+ games every year of his career. He spoke with a finality tone at The Storm pod preseason.

Upon looking this up, he's already came off the bench more this year than any time before in his college career. His freshman year, Texas was 29-9 and made the Elite 8/finished #5 in the AP, second year made the tourney as well.

Either way, this makes me think of last year with Scott. The team intended on getting Omier or Mitchell, and wanted Scott off the bench. Scott was good as a starter, but he would've been all-world off the bench. Think that applies to Mitchell as well.

"monster role player"?

The Book of Marillac can open on Broadway one door down from The Book of Mormon, perhaps.

Now let's get back to focusing on the starting lineup for Iowa State, which according to Rick will include Tamba and Konstantidis. Under those circumstances he should start Liotopoulos also to maximize the Greek connection and then Ayo at the other two positions. He's a monster, he can play two spots at the same time, no doubt about it.

Either that or we can go with the Wright/LMF/Marillac lineup of Sellers and Darling, Sanon, Hopkins and Zuby. As much as it kills me to bring Mitchell off the bench.

I think Marillac may have been talking about Ayo perhaps having one more year, not Mitchell.

Outside of his love affair with a certain headband wearing, knee high sock wearing incredibly slow point guard, Marillac and I are usually in agreement on players.

This is going to be a brutal next three days on here; “Ayogate”, “Darling’s Real Height”, “Ian Point Guard of Year Resurrection, “Pitino’s Secret Pohto Plan” and “Mean Gene’s Meteor Destruction of MSG Theory”

I’m 6.4 draw your own conclusions on Darling. Dillon kinda verifies my height if he’s 6.6

NYCREDMANS height is very open to debate. lol
