How many teams?

What's your prediction to how many BE teams go to the NCAAs? Yes, there are many situations to still be played out this week, but this is just your gut prediction.

I say 5...but fear it will be 4. Anyone see 6 as a remote possibility?

Nova, Creighton and Xavier are already in.

Looks like 3 teams (us, PC, and Gtown) will be battling it out this week at MSG to build the résumé.

This makes Thursday's game vs. PC beyond huge. Both teams are fighting for their lives. College hoops at its best!

WOW... just 1 win and 7 losses against top 50 teams.

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm thinking three. Villanova, Creighton and one of the other semi-finalists.

On the bright side, there's no team in the league SJU can't beat. The Wednesday bye is helpful and I can see us in the final game after getting past Villanova.

We have a great week of round ball ahead of us.

Let the games begin!!

All the "braketoligists "point to that, but it is a decieving stat. The number 1 team and the number 50 team are both top 50 , but there is a big difference. Out of our 7 top 50 losses . We have 2 losses to Villanova ,loss to Creighton, loss to Syracuse, loss to Wisconsin. Those are basically top 10 teams and they were relatively close games.

True but those were close games early which we could have won Lets hope the committee takes that into consideration as well as SOS and how many we lost when we were not at full strength .BUT it is all mute unless we beat Providence and advance in BET
Proud of the team . If we do not get in hope we open eyes in the NIT

Makes no sense to me. We pretty much have the exact same resume as Providence, and they're on the fence but we're out? Jerry Palm has been giving literally ZERO credit to St. John's this whole season.

my prediction is 4….

Nova, Creighton, Xavier, and St. Johns/Providence winner.

So basically the big east tournament champion gets in, plus 3 more teams. Most would assume one of the 5 teams mentioned above will win the tournament.

Because of the way the seeding worked out, I don't think it's possible for 5 to get in (unless G'town wins the tourney). The winner of St.Johns/Providence will probably have to win another to be safe.

I was thinking what looks better for an NCAA birth? A 1 point loss against Fl. or a 1 pt victory against Xavier. Both top 50 teams. Interesting question. How much should a team be penalized for the 1 point loss against Fl., or should they be rewarded, for playing the number 1 team evenly. IMO they should be rewarded , I call that a good loss.

Is this really the first you heard of this? If so,

1. you must have been skipping many threads here,
2. you have not watch a single minute of college basktball.

Or it could be a third reason: you may want to lead a discussion in a certain direction.

I think his agenda is the worst kept secret on this board.

Otis is pretty well informed on what's happening in college basketball so I'd have to come to the same conclusion as your last possibility also :)

You wonder how he judges things

I agree. I don't see much, if any, difference between us and Providence. Anothing thing that amazes me is the love for Georgetown. They are 17-13. They should not be in the discussion. I don't give a rat's ass about their Top 50 wins because you have to ask, who did all those losses come against?

Georgetown's RPI--55 and SOS--8 are better than our RPI and SOS. Like if or not, those stats are important #s for earning bids.

If you think they shouldn't be in the discussion, than why should we???

I see us in a 3-way deadlock with Gtown and PC. I think Xavier has the edge right now. Assuming 4 spots for the NCAAs from the BE, looks like we are fighting for the 3rd and 4th bids with Gtown, PC and Xavier. That means one school is going to be disappointed next Sunday evening. Fingers crossed it's not us!

They are also 7-8 in their last 15 games, have a losing record in the BE conference, and once they lose in the BE tourney, will have 14 losses. They've also lost to Seton Hall twice, as well as a Northeastern team with an RPI of 220. All these things will be considered too.
