Frankly I cannot wait until this entire season is over! Following SJU basketball for over 40 years and I never experienced anything resembling this! Let's lose our first game and end this travesty! Looking forward to next year! Hope you all have a great spring and summer!

Why was Balamou chewing out Mussini late in the game when Balamou blew his coverage?

Maybe he was mad he took 2nd most shots on team, just under 300 and only made 33%of them. That might annoy me a tad

Lavin's decision to activate Balamous is still mind boggling but more disturbing is the NCA A's decision not to give him the extra year.
During last night's Duke Carolina game Jay Bilas said that Duke appealed to the NCAA to get an extra year for its top forward Jefferson who got hurt in early Dec.He said he expected an OK decision.
Early Dec means he played probably six or seven games.

They said they would appeal to the NCAA, did not say it would be granted. Probably will be (and no, not because it is Duke) but it also depends on the last day he played in, the date of the game and the number of games the team played.

Balamou played in four games the year he should have redshirted (13/14 Season). The First one was somewhere in Mid December and the last one in early January, probably all (except maybe the first one) after the first semester ended which probably hurt his chances for a redshirt, but the one in January probably killed it. I believe St. John's did partition for the year but was turned down.

Whether he is a BE caliber player or not is irrelevant IMHO concerning his eligibility. What is relevant is the fact that Lavin planned to redshirt him, and then burned the year which he didn't have to. Whether it was the extra year was used, and if so, whether it was here or elsewhere is inconsequential. He should have had the option to decide for next year.
