How Can You Bash This Team?

"Results matter but direction and foundation at this time mean more. Huge salute Felix, Durand and Ron. #SeniorDay #sjubb".

I couldn't have said it better. Thanks to Felix, Durand and Ron
Your effort and hard work have laid the foundation to a bright future for St John's hoops

I give credit to all 3 of these guys. The effort has always been there and they've tried their hardest despite the team being severely undermanned.

Three sweet ( right on) posts!
Thanks MR Mr.D
The record stinks while the kids have heart and the program rocketing into the top twenty stratosphere...by 2016-7-8-9 when Chris Slice Matt have had a complete recruiting cycle...wow!!

all the best

Wishing all departing guys well, but recruit, recruit, recruit! :)

I know, it's a dead horse, but lavin should be ashamed that today is Balamous senior day

Aside om the recruits comin next season, what I'm excitebout is come next fall the Jack Williams era of SJU basketball begins:

a) A legacy kid whose parents went here.
b) A kid who could have gone to other, more heralded schools, but chose SJU
c) A kid who willl be cheering his butt off at every SJU home game, and likely a bunch of away games too.

A generation ago, these were the types of kids that routinely stayed home to go to St. John's. Many of us didn't have a strong second choice. Jack has many and is coming here. A sign of great things to come for our school and our program.

I'd bet that Jack's presence in the student section will be worth at least 1/2 win per year, and even if not, as a redmen.com fan, I'm happy he will be here.

Thankfully it is. Nothing against him but not a big east level player.

Maybe he's not, but he got screwed out of a year he could have spent at an appropriate level should he have chosen to go that direction.

yep. that's the thing that bothers me most about Lavins tenure. Totally robbing him of a year. As bad as we were this year I'm glad he was able to get plenty of playing time finally

Thanks for the kind words beast! I'm truly pumped to be at all the home games next year I can't wait

Given Felix' great athleticism but marginal hoops skills, perhaps there is a role for him as a graduate assistant here or somewhere to help him towards a master's degree. While on the surface Lavin seems blameworthy in this circumstance, we have no idea what private communication went on between the coach and the player.

I noticed yesterday and at a couple of games this year that he yelled at musinni over a play.

Lavin's decision to activate Balamous is still mind boggling but more disturbing is the NCA A's decision not to give him the extra year.
During last night's Duke Carolina game Jay Bilas said that Duke appealed to the NCAA to get an extra year for its top forward Jefferson who got hurt in early Dec.He said he expected an OK decision.
Early Dec means he played probably six or seven games.

He is very vocal on the court. Even yesterday on the court he was pleading with some of our guys when a PC player broke down our defense or made an easy bucket. I do like his passion and enthusiasm and he may indeed make a great assistant or even head coach some day. I wish him all the best no matter what he does.

Are you referring to Balamou making a great assistant or head coach one day ?

This seems like a huge stretch for someone who might be a athletic, ability to weave to basket for layup or dunk, and good teammate, but not really displaying much evidence or on the floor leadership or game strategy.

Yes, he may have been robbed of his 5th year playing status, but he got a 4 year degree at no expense. He's not owed anything else by the staff or administration.

Need medical hardship to get the year back cannot use coach's stupidity as a hardship (although with Lavin they should make an exception for extreme stupidity). Maybe Amile Jefferson played less than the amount of games that would have cost him a year of eligibility and Felix went over the limit.
