Heron Injury Update

CMA, medical staff & Mustapha will make the right call based on what's best for Mustapha. Seems unlikely he'll play Wednesday if he hasn't practiced yet but if they decide he's ready to travel and play Saturday night I sure won't question it.

Not worth playing him. Rest him until he’s ready. We should be able to beat Albany without him. He hasn’t been lighting it up lately. Let him rest up and get back to business when he’s ready.
Amen--I don't even like him going to West Coast as they will probably leave on Thursday and get back late Sunday effectively losing 4 days of physical therapy--want he ready for Butler and the BE beginning on 12/31.
Heron will get treatment 4-5 times a day with the team trainer in the hotel whether he plays or not. The players also get therapy on the team charter I have heard from former managers. All the therapy equipment is brought on every trip.

Zach B, as expected

St. John's coach Mike Anderson tells me he doesn't expect Mustapha Heron to play tomorrow night against Albany. Swelling has gone down, but still not practicing

As for Mustapha Heron's chances to play against Arizona on Saturday, Mike Anderson wouldn't say yet the odds. Depends how he heals. He's rehabbing three times a day. #sjubb

I hope CMA and Heron think very seriously about the long conference schedule. It's a tough grind for all the athletes. This isn't the time to gut it out and play through pain. Ten extra days of rest and therapy could be a big factor in the success of Heron's season and probably any pro offers afterwards.
Just my imho. The people with all the medical information make the decisions. I know they'll do what's best for Heron.
The St. John’s coach wouldn’t estimate the likelihood of him playing against No. 16 Arizona on Saturday out West, though if held out, Heron would have an additional 10 days to heal before the league opener against Butler on New Year’s Eve.
My opinion is wait until the grind of the Big East, that is what counts the most.
First of all it doesn't sound good right now. As much as I want Heron to play I don't expect him back for Arizona. Get better big guy.

"Interrupt the Fiesta Bowl tweets with an important St John's update: Mustapha Heron (ankle) has returned to practice, per source. Still uncertain if he plays Tuesday in Big East opener at the moment, but practicing is a positive sign" #sjubb
