I believe that if I would have majored in Finance my career would have taken me in a different direction! I can’t complain my degree allowed me to rise to the ranks of Vice President with 2 companies, and a Managing Director of Sales with another. It didn’t take me long to realize that the real money was in running your own shop. I am in this crazy business for 49 years now a long time to be doing anything. Nice talking to you Sly.
I understand completely and the study of Finance should always be a Major in the Curriculum of any Business School .,

In the Financial Services Business , you are absolutely correct that the opportunity to earn a substantial compensation rests in Advisors , Agents, etc .

It’s interesting too , that many of the newest Strategies today in Financial Planning come from Tax Attorneys , CPA’s , etc . The Journal of the Society is filled with such information . But , then it’s left to the Client Advisor to explain many of these complicated Plans to the Client .

I’ve retired from the business and taken a retired status too , with the Society . I agree with you the CLU is still the time tested gold standard credential . The ChFc, CFP are worthy designations as well .

Very true 85 but I get enough smacks across the face just being a St. John’s fan. Not to mention enough kicks in the ass, kicks to the groin, gut punches, ah you get the picture.
You wouldn't feel those gut punches if St. John's offered a major that's popular at Harvard, Folklore and Mythology.
You see, the great St. John's Basketball tradition is part folklore, like the Wonder Five from the time Knight was an undergraduate, to the myth that we have been rebuilding a sleeping giant since Lou Carnesecca adlibbed as a coach.
