have the moderators...

...of this once enjoyable website ever given consideration to returning to the closed enrollment? I would gladly give up my opportunity to offer my (mostly useless) observations for the chance to return to a site that doesn't have 10 new threads a day focused on the same recycled point and agenda driven posters who insist on spaming every thread with uninformed speculation intending to influence the program. I guess this is my open letter/fire posters/how many different threads do we need about the lack of 2014 recruits/how many players can be influenced into leaving the program so we can hire some poster's flavor of the month thread

get over yourself...a messageboard for fans is a place to post opinions, let off steam, argue/debate, and joke with fellow fans. Who are you to say what is useless, spam, or uninformed?

You just proved indyredman's point.

I was about to say the same, Tony.

Mike, its just as bad for me to create a thread about too many threads/posts/etc as the point I was trying to make. I certainly had no individual poster in mind and apologize for coming off as a **** (or being one if ask my friends:). My fault. I was only lamenting the fact that as soon as news of substance hits, threads go from the news to attacks on players, coaches, each other in lighning speed. Then new threads emerge from topics where a thread already exists on the same page. I love discussion and argument about St. Johns basketball (no one around here cares, hence why I visit this site), and there are posters in the know that I pay particular attention to, just posed a question as to whether the site was being shifted from its intention and away from those that made it such a great read in the first place

You certainly are a respectful and (from where I sit) respected poster. I get the point of your thread and posted much the same when the board was inundated with Norm Roberts posts during (especially) the last few years he was here. But this year we had a season that fell far short of even the most covservative expectations in terms of quality of product, never mind record. Me, since I was disappointed with the team (players and coaches) from the Wisconsin game forward, I found the constant posts citing meaningless facts and Pollyanna opinions trying to prove how GOOD we were and how if only this happened or that happened we would be all of what we all hoped we would be this year. I certainly went out of my way to attack those posts/posters. Classy? Anything but. Did I feel good for the venting? You bet. But at the end of the day the vast majority of posters here love the Johnnies but when things go south the frustrations are voiced in different but always emotional terms. So you have the eternal optimists for whom the turn-around is certainly coming NEXT GAME and the forever pessimists who think it will NEVER come. My feeling, post what you feel which is what you did. Probably won't change anything but it has a better chance having an effect coming from a level headed mature poster like you than from an eye-poker like me or the vast majority of the knuckleheads who live here.

It's not ideal, and almost impossible to do as a mod, but you have to learn to selectively read and ignore some posters/threads. If you are an optimist and someone is a total pessimist then ignore that person. I think if everyone was standing face to face at Irish exit they would be civil in expressing their opinion but when people have a computer screen to hide behind they feel like they can say anything they want without impunity.

Keyboard muscles. BTW Enjoy Colombia great weather.

I can't believe we are going arriving/leaving the bogota airport at practically the same time

Without impunity or with impunity? :)

I do my best to avoid posts and threads from members who's positions/opinions I do not respect. I do not have to agree with a member's position/opinion, but I do have to respect the poster. Like everyone else, I sometimes let my emotions(especially during these frustrating times) get the best of me, but I try to keep those posts to a minimum.

+1 for you.

Life is pretty simple when you live by 1 rule. Treat others the way you would want to be treated. Doesn't matter whether it's on a board or in person. It's that simple. If you wouldn't say something to someone in person you shouldn't say it on the internet ( unless provoked. lol )

Paultz I would have kicked that guy off the bus if there wasn't another 5 people standing between him and the bus door. My nose still hasn't recovered. Seriously this is what it was like

Have been using private drivers since. lol
