HARRISON'S IMPROVED SHOT

After watching Harrison last night I am beginning to think that we may not need another shooter after all.

I say this because previously Harrison seemed to be only a rhythm shooter, needing to step into the shot or dribble shoot. He used to miss all his open spot-up attempts but last night he nailed them.

Also, his shooting form has changed for the better which I didn't think was possible with this kind of high-caliber shooting star. We did not see the old line-drive shot-put, that would usually hit the back rim and ricochet in. That shot was replaced with a beautiful back-spin arc shot that splashed down through the bottom of the net. If this is the case then great job by him to improve his it and absorb what the coaches are trying to teach him.

Only time will tell if this is true and tougher test are in front of him, specifically the vaunted Syracuse zone, but we could next year possibly be looking at a 50% 3-pt. shooter (fingers-crossed).

Going forward I know that his size for his position will limit him at the next level but just for a brief moment last night he reminded me of (sic) Rip Hamilton in his college days. Wouldn't it be great if 3 years from now that comes to fruition.

His shooting is improving rapidly. That said there are 14 kids in the entire country shooting 50% or better from 3 and only one has more attempts than DLo. He's a volume shooter so it's unlikely he'll achieve those heights but even if he shoots in the 4045% range with his number of attempts that makes him dangerous, He's shot 39% since the BE season started so he's almost there already.

this was one game.

One half. But he's improving, as is the team in general. The last four games have seen a turnaround, even though two of them have been losses. The next five games are all tough, it should be interesting to see how we continue to develop.

i hear you. it's just that some posters will now expect 29 a game from harrison and/or 30 from harkless. anything short of that and they suck. see the posts about harkless and his banged up quad.

these are freshmen who'll come down to earth...then take off. then they'll come back to earth, etc. the future is bright and we're getting a glimpse.

Well said, we expect way to much from these kids, especially when it come to consistency. All seem to be catching up to the speed of the college game, especially Amir. I'm talking about the speed only with Amir, but love his potential.

even if harrison was the greatest outside shooter to ever play basketball, we would still need another consistent three-point threat for next season.

Even if Harrison stays only 3 years, he should easily smash Willie Shaw's career total 3 point goals made record for SJU.

Keep up the hard work young man.

What position would that shooter play?

Understood and I stated so, but I tivo every game and have watched this one 4x already and his shooting mechanics have clearly changed.
 .

Without keeping stats do not. know if his shooting. improved or is it related. .to shot selection and volume

I agree with "illwill", does it matter which position? How about the 1, 3 or 4? Give us more options, players do get hurt and it has been soooooooooo long since Mullin and Rowan.

does it matter? imagine how lethal harrison would be with another shooter for teams to worry about. It would free him up even more.

Another shooter is needed to back up Harrison. a. for a breather. b. if he gets injured c. if he gets in foul trouble d. if we re behind late in a game and need points fast.

Ill Will, meet Moe Harkles and Phil Greene. Both of those players will be around 35%. Take that to the bank. I could actually see Moe at or over 40% ala Kevin Jones' soph year.
