Harrison and Sampson to return to St. John's

wow! a nice positive trail of comments. I am certainly looking forward to a good year as well. Coaching, X's and O's will be critical because it appears we have the raw talent and the depth.

If Jordan is the penetrating and passing (kick outs) he is touted to be than Dlo can set up at the 3 pt line and take 20 footers instead of 30 footers which theoretically should improve his 3 pt %.

Those D'Angelo pull up 3s must come to an end. He is no longer the only scoring option on the team and if he continues doing that, it may well cause some friction amongst the players.

Part of his time off from th team should be him learning and becoming more situationally aware on the court and learning to trust his teammates.

I have no doubt this past season that he was monitoring his stats. It's time for him to take th next step and realize that h's not the only guy on the court.

Speaking of X's and O's If Dunlap gets fired........................................

Dunlap is not getting fired. First of all Charlotte won 21 games with a roster without any stars. Jordan has been told that not one player on the Bobcats would start on a playoff team.
Additionally, Coach Dunlap was supposed to help the younger players improve and he did that. Kemba and Gerald Henderson got better as the year went on. Kidd-Gilchrist's play improved, he just has to spend the off season working on his jump shot. Jeff Taylor had a decent rookie year and Byron Mullins had the best year of his career so far.
Coach Dunlap did the job he was hired to do. Hopefully they can get rid of some dead weight, add a couple free agents, and get the #1 pick in the draft.

FG% is an important stat. If he wants that to improve ,he will have to improve his shot selection

I agree that 3'Lo needs to improve his shot selection, but I strongly disagree that the pullup treys in transition need to stop. Any open shot for a kid like Harrison is a good shot in my book. Where he gets into trouble is when he decides to force shots when he is well covered.

Poor strategy. Nothing worse than taking jumper's 9 inches inside the arc, well I guess taking jumpers 6 inches inside the arc is worse.

And taking long 2's may or may not improve his 3 pt %. ;)

The one shot from last season that I will not forget was D'Angelo's pull-up 3 off of the opening jump ball of the Georgetown game.

Let's be real. D'Angelo was only taking those shots because he felt he was the best player on the team. He took them on 'fast breaks' as well.

Next year's team has enough firepower and options for him not to do that nonsense. He'll be playing with 3 guys who have pro potential next year. Make or miss, that pull-up 3 is a selfish shot and I hope he begins to learn to value possessions more.

I had a bigger problem when Dangelo would dribble into a trap rather than pass back to the guy who had just set a pick for him.

The pull up 3, if he's wide open (and especially if we have guys under the basket) doesn't bother me. Sometimes he got carried away, but he'll learn from that.

The plays where he ignored his pick man started to drive me crazy. Because defenses knew he could only go right and both defenders would be waiting there for him. Ball movement has got to be quicker next year.

I thought that was a good shot. Harrison doesn't get many open looks during the game and he was far and away our best shooter and scorer. Why pull that back against a very good defensive team like Gtown? STJ was AWFUL in the half court all year. I'll all but guarantee the staff encourages that out of him. Nobody wants to see him do it against double-teams, but an open look is an open look.
