Good situation for moe, because the trail blazers team was gutted this offseason. Batum, Aldridge, Steve Blake, Wes Matthews, Robin Lopez, all left Portland so he should see time.

@SteveLavin64: Congrats @moe_harkless on trade to #PortlandTrailblazers! #BrightFuture #SJUBB #BigDayForFormerJohnnies #NYBuzz @bigplaydj1 @Amir_Garrett

Great news for Moe. He was in an absolutely horrible situation in Orlando that offered him little room for growth.

2nd round pick! Man, that could come back to be one helluva trade for the Blazers. I wish the Knicks would have been so wise. That is essentially a gift. The kid just turned 22 and has three years in the NBA under his belt!

The NBA is crazy right now. If you can't win right away, gutting your team for a chance to be good five years down the road has become a very accepted practice.

Look at the Sixers...they have been intentionally sucking for like three years already and just got extremely lucky this year by having Okafor fall to them, after a few years of pretty bad lottery picks resulting in zero franchise players. Now they've got someone to build the franchise around and a stockpile of draft picks through 2021. They are actually going to be good for a very long time if they can add a few pieces around Okafor, who looks primed for a 15 year successful career.

Portland is probably on a 2-3 year rebuild with Lillard on the roster. Moe, at just 22, fits in perfectly on that timeline.

Great opportunity for Moe. Portland has been decimated in FA, so the playing time should be there for him. Plus, gets to run the floor with one of the best playmakers in the NBA.

Amazing how he really can't make FT's

Nice line for Maurice last night:

15 pts, 5-8 from the field, 2-2 from three pt line, 3-4 from FT line, 10 rebounds, 5 offensive rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 turnovers.

Fresh start. Good for mo

After reading this I went to check the depth chart on ESPN to see who he was competing for minutes with and was surprised to see that Luis Montero, of the Keith Thomas/WCC fiasco Montero's, was their third string SG. Guess he could have helped.

Something must have really clicked with Harkless:

Last night: 25 minutes; 17 points, 7 rebounds in 25 minutes

His last five games he's averaging 14.4 pts, on a 63% FG %, 43% from 3, but
somehow his FT shooting is still terrible: 44% in last 5 games.

This is a contract year for him, yes?

From ESPN recap of the game:
Portland got strong contributions from reserves Maurice Harkless and Ed Davis. Harkless, who returned to the bench after starting in place of the injured Noah Vonleh earlier this month, scored 17 high-energy points and Davis added 11 on 4-for-4 shooting.

"He's been huge," Lillard said of Harkless. "He's changing every game for us."

I've watched some of their recent games and he's had a big impact on them winning. Getting offensive rebounds and scrappy on defense. His confidence is definitely up recently.

Moe has had a great stretch. This is a great situation for him. The Blazers have two stud guards in Lillard and McCollum, but the 3-5 positions there is playing time to be earned if you step up, and Moe has been stepping up.

Also, along with the great stat line that bk shared, Moe also dunked on a guy last night someone should post a video of it
