Gtown rematch game thread...

STJ outright tomorrow, Balt outright Sunday, Zags win the Ncaa title-- just a few predictions for a slow Friday afternoon.

was going to drive down and actually took today off to go early but plans got derailed

Hopefully we get revenge.

Any idea of the spread ?

Call me crazy but I think we win a close one

I'm with you. The beating they put on us a few weeks ago is a good motivator and we have had occasional success as an underdog against the Hoyas. Mind you, this could be my unbridled dislike of GT that goes back to the mid-80s masquerading as optimism.

Of this four-game stretch, a win over the Hoyas is the one I would enjoy the most.

I too think it will be close. We have matured a bit in the last couple of weeks, have a different look and should be eager to avenge the whuppin' we took at the Garden. The team should need no further motivation than a review of the that footage... Six in a row has a nice ring to it! :)

I had considered driving down, but I have to fly out on a trip Sunday. I was also going to the gamewatch in Garden City park, but all gamewatches have been cancelled. It's too bad - I heard they were raffling off expensive watches and custom tailor made suits.

You're crazy. but seriously I think that all of us fans are looking at things with rosy colored glasses, stemming from wins against (mostly) lower level BE wins. Unfortunately i remember the 1st game b/w these teams, and it wasn't pretty. I hope I'm wrong, but I think we will be humbled a bit by tmrw's game.

I am usually a skeptic, but I think Gtown having beat us twice last year and blowing us out this year has gotten this teams attention. While we have beaten lower BE teams since that game (besides ND) we have won 5 in a row, which, no matter who you play in the BE is hard, especially when 2 of them were local rivals. We are not good enough to easily go on to 5 in a row in any stretch without being happy and I think the kids are showing a lot about their attitudes and will to win. Sir Dom will not lose to Gtown again, that is the way I look at it. For some reason I really feel Sir Dom is capable of getting this team going in any game.

I was with you until you had the Zags winning it all.

Well 2 out of 3 i'll take. The Zags are well coached, deep, have 7 footers who shoot three's ..and lets face it there is no dominant team this season. I bet them 16-1 to win it all today. It's worth a shot it will be a wide open Ncaa tourney.

Based on how we played against DePaul I am not overly optimistic. However, you throw out all bad games and move on to the next one. The past game is just that - in the past.

This is a milestone game - They can payback Georgetown and put an exclamation point on a statement that says, "We aren't the same team you beat up on a few weeks ago." A chance to prove they belong in the upper part of this league.

My head says this is a loss, but my heart is telling me they can play a very competitive game, and come out with a win. Sometimes you just gotta go with your heart.

Hope we see more man tomorrow. Have been mixing it nicely with the zone the last 5 games, and that will be even more critical against Georgetown given the way they dominated us on the backboards 3 weeks ago (+14). With their size advantage we'll have a better chance to rebound in man, and hopefully avoid another double-digit offensive rebound effort from the Hoyas. Also think a steady dose of Sampson and Pointer on Otto (with a little Garrett and Jones mixed in) is the best way to contain him. He was way too comfortable last game, need to neutralize him or at least make him work more for what he gets.

No real surprise here but both Katz & Greenburg both picked Georgetown to win on ESPN's First Take

If I was a G'Town fan, I would be nervous. At first, I'd probably want to dismiss SJ as a pretender, but it's funny how quickly people forget we already beat #20 ND and #14 Cincy (at their place). Just a few years back I remember Providence beat #1 Pitt. Rutgers last year beat #10 Florida, and we came within 7 of beating Duke at their place with all freshmen. You never know what will happen. We are due for revenge against G'Town and Cuse especially. Even the best teams can't beat you every single time...all it takes is 1 off day for the mighty to fall...Just ask L'Ville and Cuse. Don't forget Temple and Nova beat Cuse and we are just as good if not better than those teams. Not expecting much success in this stretch, but this is why we play the games. Looking forward to stealing a few.

Having dinner at Filomena's in G'Town. Just came from a Hoya alumni basketball reception at F. Scott's. Felt like a spy !!! Go Johnnies !!!

I'm down in DC a lot on business, Filomena's is a great place on Wisconsin off of M St. Al Tiramisu on P St. between 20th and 21st is an excellent place also. It's smaller and quieter than Filomena's. It's more fine dining.

I think the team will play well tomorrow but I just think Georgetown is a bad matchup for us and we lose a close one. I think they've matured during this win streak and the effort will be there after the beating they took at the hands of Georgrtown last game. Like I said, I just think that in the end it's just a bad matchup for us.
