Greg Williams Out Tonight

Hope he is back for our game with Marcus Howard.
We need him back ASAP. I know scoring is a huge priority but Greg was playing fantastic all around basketball the last 7 or so games. Like, if he was scoring 10 a game he would be an all big east level player, type good.

What I’m most excited about is seeing the 3 sophomores from last class + Champaigne become upperclassmen. I have no doubt that if those 4 guys are on our roster two years from now that we will be a tourney team.
Reality is that some of our underclassmen will be recruited over, see less playing time, or leave. If CMA achieves goal of being a contender for national championships, this must happen.

Right now none of our underclassmen have been recruited over. Heron and Rutherford are guaranteed to leave and CMA brought in 2 guards. Figgy may leave and CMA has prepared for that eventuality.
Earlington and Williams don’t start but get starter minutes when they are healthy. A crystal ball I don’t have but I just don’t see any of the Earlington, Williams, Roberts or Champagnie wanting to leave. I see these four underclassmen staying all four years and continuing to improve, something that has been absent since Lavin took over with Norms kids for their senior season.
I won’t say the same about Ian Steere.
Asfor playing in a national championship we know the five players coming to school next July. While CMA brought in a nice recruiting class for 2020 sorry but I just don’t see that group and our returning players playing in a National Championship game in 2 seasons. However, if the hard work and progression continues I could see us dancing each of the next 2 seasons.

I completely disagree regarding those 4 I mentioned and that has zero to do with our recruiting and everything to do with the need for upperclassmen and their ability to get better. Look at our program over the last decade and see what seniors have meant.

Here is every senior that we have had in the program for more than a year over the last decade.

MARVIN CLARK
BASHIR AHMED
Amar Alibegovic
Felix Balamou
D’ANGELO HARRISON
PHIL GREENE
DOM POINTER
Jamal Branch
ORLANDO SANCHEZ
Gods gift
Marco Bourgault
DWIGHT HARDY
DJ KENNEDY
JUSTIN BROWNLEE
PARIS HORNE
JUSTIN BURRELL
Malik Boothe
Sean Evans
Dele Coker

Every guy on that list aside from Amar and Coker are guys I’d take any year. They range from bench contributor to all out studs. If CMA makes it a habit to retain and develop players into upperclassmen then I fully believe his system will be successful here. And I think he’s already got the player base to do just that.

These guys aren’t really part of what I’m talking about but just for full disclosure-
*RS juniors that didn’t play senior year
Simon
Cj
Tariq
Darien Williams

**senior grad transfers
Durand Johnson
Ron M.
Joey de la Rosa
