Goodbye To A Special St. John's Fan

Beautiful picture and tribute. My prayers are with his family and friend, may he rest in peace.

My condolences to all of his family and friends. I never met him but from reading these posts, he sounded like a very special person and a great St. John's fan. RIP Diego.

Diego was in the same class as I am (2000). He is one of the realest St. John's fan that I know. He is always fashionably late at the games. He hates 1 point games. He's the only reason I was able to experience sitting courtside at the Garden. I am going to truly miss him. RIP Diego.

Here's a photo with D'Lo and NYCRedmen at the open practice that Lavin had at MSG during his first year at St. John's.

Diego had a big heart. He surprised my wife and me with court side seats last year. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.

I never heard of the man until now but from the posts here “special” seems very apropos. May he Rest In Peace and his loved ones find nothing but peace until they see him again.

Very sad to hear this. Only knew Diego tangentially, but he seemed like a great guy and as loyal a fan as there is.
Think I watched the Alaska shootout lavins first year with him at some mid town bar. Enthusiasm was high.

Know his daughters mom Jen pretty well, and it's going to be very hard on the two of them.

I did not know Diego personally but he did sit near me at Carnesecca. I noticed he always brought his wife and daughter to games. And I admired how he seemed to be an outstanding father. Very sad

Never met him, but thanks for posting Diego's photo at the top of the site's pages. Wonderful gesture.

Did he post here? I didn't know him personally, so it would be nice to put a screen name to the face of someone who by all accounts was a great guy. My sincere condolences to everyone here who was friends with him.

I met him at the controversial Seton Hall game during the 18-19 season. He organized a group for St. John’s fans. I remember our brief interaction and his enthusiasm . A life can be measured by a person’s legacy. While sadly his life was far too short he has left a lasting impression on so many.

LJSA he was not a poster but we were finally able to get him to come around and check out this site and read the threads ; ) .

Which means he was not only good, but smart.

I didn't know him, classes of '75, and '78 far off from 2000, but found myself feeling like I knew him when reading so many great posts.

Maybe from the Dance cam at the Garden. What a warm smile it comes across as infectious even in a still photograph.

May his Soul rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon him. May his family be consoled by having the imprint of his heart with them for all of the rest of their lives.

If there is a memorial fund to help out his family please post.
