Good News?

What? Now we have to prove unfounded rumors are NOT true. We have to prove negatives?

Prove I didn't open this book. Prove I didn't just cross the street. Prove I didn't just walk into Dunkin and Donuts.

I personally don't think JayOn has any info on Lavin's contract extension or his interest in staying or going. Regarding the players, it is clear he's been on Mark re Max, Karr & Obekpa. Let's see how the week goes.

I fail to understand your logic, although you did answer my question. Thanks.

The fact that he's out trying to get a job is disgusting. Don't get me wrong I don't like him as a coach, but the way the team has collapsed here and his first instinct is to try and get a job on the other side of the country just says a lot about his character.

Fact?

My point exactly!!!

Hey Jack, try this: The [strike]fact[/strike] rumor that he's out there trying to get a job is disgusting.

This was my point the other day. We need to stop posting tweets that have no factual basis. At least unless it becomes a fact.

Oh, by the way, I just heard that Cal is looking to leave UK and would like the challenge of rebuilding a D1 program in the NYC area. :silly:

Regardless of whether or not he's pursuing the Cal job, I have no doubt that he can charm the hell out of interviewers, and it'll take a few years before they realize that they may have made a mistake.

I'm sure Lavin has interest in the Cal job. He certainly knows at this point he won't be here for the long term, so might as well try to stay one step ahead.

If he is talking to people, and I have no ideas if he is, could there be breach of contract? I guess it depends on the language of his contract.

Well he's from the Bay Area so I'm sure he's reached out through back channels. I still would be shocked if they actually hired him. Like someone said, he can definitely charm and persuade in an interview if it got that far.

So an untrue rumor get started and everyone begins commenting on it like it were true.

At the ams time how do you know it's not true ?

I doubt it's true but this guy Jayon has a better track record than anyone on any of the boards the last few weeks

It's a lot different than any of the other posters throwing up stuff against the wall to see if it sticks

Cal (UC-Berkeley) and UCLA are part of the same statewide system. After the rabid fan reaction to Lavin's tenure at UCLA it would seem highly unlikely to me (who at one time worked at UC-Berkeley) that Lavin would be seriously considered for the coaching position there. Could be wrong but I doubt it.

The guy mentioned he is in the "running" which means nothing. There is a big difference between someone who says "Player X is going to transfer" and "someone is in the running" for something which means nothing. One is definitive and is UNIQUE to SJU and one means nothing

Secondly that would be reported nationally as well as in the local Bay Area newspapers and no one and I mean NO ONE is even remotely saying he is under consideration. The number 1 candidate for the Cal job is Mike Montgomery's top assistant Travis Decuire.

Lastly if Cal, which has certainly been better then SJU recently, wants Lavin why wouldn't SJU considering his replacement would almost certainly be an unproven assistant or low level mid-major coach?

Oh no, there will be a thread about how we don't want Cal now. :silly:

I heard that Cal wants the SJU job, but only if Calhoun and Massielo are his assistants. :p ;)

The number 1 candidate for the Cal job is Mike Montgomery's top assistant Travis Decuire.

That's Montgomery's top choice, and probably the players, but there will be a search anyway, per the AD.

I just got back from the Cal campus. No Lavin sightings, but there were a whole bunch of hot girls half my age. Not sure if I am proud to report that or ashamed.

If I were UCLA, I would tell Cal that he's a great choice. Then if he bottoms out it reduces the competition by one team.
