Good luck to all my fellow Floridian posters, especially those on the West Coast.

Here we go again which is why I moved away from my beach front condo three years ago, got tired of evacuations. Good luck to all in the wake of the pending hurricane ….. be safe.

Yes, stay safe all of you Florida redmen.comers! I remember the first summer after we moved to the Charlotte area we fell in love with Wrightsville Beach and actually considered buying a place there as my retirement got nearer. We now talk about it as one of the best moves we didn't make. At this point, as much as I love the ocean, don't want to live right on it, rather do the drive a few times a year.

On the west coast in Venice, had the hurricane shutters installed today. Here in NY, so hoping everyone in FL is safe!
Sitting in Deerfield Beach watching my pool overflow, but I am well trained, having grown up in Belle Harbor a block from the ocean.

good luck and safe outcomes to all in Florida. Having seen what Sandy did to my place in Breezy Point (we were not there during the storm) it can be devestating. Suggest you shut down electricity in your houses if the utilities don't; ditto the gas. That is what caused the fires. A St. John's alum and friend, Marty Ingram, wrote a book about it, "Flood, Fire and a Superstorm". If you live in a flood /storm zone a good read.

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE Ian:

Twas the night before Ian and all through the house
Everyone was nervous, except for my spouse.
The shutters were hung ‘round the house all with care,
In hopes in the morning it still would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of spaghetti models danced in their heads.
And me in my night gown, and hubs in his cap,
Had just had some pizza and a coke that was flat.
When outside the house there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our chairs to see what was the matter.
Away to the window jumping over our clutter,
but we couldn’t see squat because of the shutters
With snacks in hand, and a go-bag all ready.
We retired to our room, hoping our roof did stay steady.
With a silent prayer said for all the residents of our state.
We will hunker down no choice now but to wait.

STAY SAFE EVERYONE!!!!

I saw reports of tornadoes in the Delray Beach area.

I was in Breezy a couple of days after Sandy. My friends who have a home there(Lincoln Walk) and who live in Manhattan, had no gas in their car so they asked me to drive them there. I had a full tank so was glad to drive then. . I had been there a few weeks earlier. It looked as though someone dropped a bomb on Breezy. It was horrific.

Hoping everyone will be safe. Hoping the world will wake up sooner than later as to the climate change.
In the years between 2001 and 2022, 32 Category 4 hurricanes formed within the confines of the Atlantic Ocean.
From 1901 to 1950, 29 Category 4 hurricanes formed in the same area.
Seventeen years ago Hurricane Katrina was a Category 5 hurricane that caused record deaths and damage.

It's September and it's hurricane season in the Caribbean where waters are warm.
I don't think climate change due to carbon emissions is the issue.
Maybe if Brazil stopped cutting down the Amazon rainforest for the Chinese climate could be more stable.

How did everyone make out? My father-in-law lives in Punta Gorda on a canal going out to the Peace River. He is currently visiting us in London, so no idea what kind of damage he has suffered yet. He had 5 feet of storm surge clearance, so he likely has some ugly damage to return home to.
