Good Luck Christian Jones

Bashir and Freudenberg are good rebounders who could give some minutes at PF to replace CJ. Bringing in Antetokounmpo and moving one of the three small forwards to PF is also good tradeoff for CJ. We need rebounding, which wasn't CJ's forte, so Livingston coming in would also be a good tradeoff. I'll wait to see what happens before I lament his loss, but he seems like a good kid, so good luck to him.

How long does the fifth-year transfer market usually extend? Because I know of two local guys who've put up nice stats at their low/mid-majors who I would certainly want to bring in if they ever decided to transfer. And they both received excellent coaching in high school, so they'd presumably come in ready to play defense.

Thanks for your service CJ and good luck in your future endeavors. As for SJU it is like moving an expiring contract to open up cap space for free agents (ie transfers including immediately eligible ones). Let's just hope we do it better than the Knicks.

We need rebounding so this is a good trade off? He wasn't Charles Barkley but he wasnt Dwayne Polee either.

Right Polee could shoot from 3

His last game was his best game. Good taste in our mouth after he departs. Nice career CJ, hopefully he gets the PT he wants next year.

I already know that CJ is a sheep in a wolf's body. I'd rather go with a more talented unknown at this point than more of the same with CJ.

Brandon Tierney perspective;

These transfers are a great indicator that the talent base is increasing exponentially...minutes will be tough. That's good. #SJUBB

That being said I love BT's enthusiasm but let's be honest. He could find a shining light in the darkest of the Norm Storm

best of luck CJ. I hoped he would come back but totally understand why he didnt. He showed a lot of progress this year

I truly hope he finds the perfect program, because he could double his stats from this year in the right situation. Even better if the coach he lands with is demanding and has lots of Euro connections.

Obviously the staff knows a whole lot more about the future than we do. Having said that, I would have loved for Christian to have stayed on for continuity, senior leadership and as a solid roll player off the bench who would have added some muscle to the front line. Based on last season, he certainly proved capable. But mostly I wanted him to stay because, like Amar, I feel as though he's a real high quality kid and he's easy to root for. At least he went out with a bang. I thank him for his contributions and I wish him the very best in his future endeavors.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention that BT is a graduate of Xavier ;)

I thought BT was a Marist alumnus ??

Just got it...Xavier H.S.

My bad

Jones & Amar leaving has been out there for several weeks. It is one of those "mutual things" based on anticipated PT available. Now let's see if staff improves the roster filling these slots. It is just the world of college basketball. We'll see what Matt's transfer hunt yields shortly. Then we can better evaluate the exchange.

Jones we could have used next year. This one might come back to bite us a little

Kick ass CJ! Our loss will be someone else's gain.
In remembrance..

Back when I was in college when you had a tough breakup some guys would make a mixed tape with a lot of Journey songs on it to send to the girl that dumped him. Don't think they make tapes anymore so maybe flowers might work? :)

If he has aspirations of playing in Europe, his best bet is to transfer, no question. One more year under his belt as a starter or 6th man at a mid-major and his stock should rise if he continues where he left off with us. He would have given us girth and some points off the bench next year, as well as senior leadership. That said, it speaks to the confidence of our staff that there is a high potential to add meaningful transfers to next years team.

Going in a different direction and distancing themselves from prior staff. I doubt very much anyone they bring in at this point will replace what Jones would have done on the court.

Good luck to him. He practiced against Owens all year. I'm sure that contributed to the writing on the wall.

Good luck to CJ. If he played the way he did in his last game all of the time this would be a huge loss, alas he did not and it is not. Future is bright gents
