Goff Resigns
Per Chris Barca

“Associate VP for Athletics Kathleen Meehan will take over as interim AD while a national search for Goff’s replacement is conducted.”
What is her background and capabilities please...possible FT if she works out well in the short term?

Mr. Goff’s departure is not related to any newsworthy scandal.

Meehan has been there forever. I remember first meeting her in mid 90's when I was student working part time in athletic dept.

My daughter reached out to her last year for email interview to get some quotes on her research paper on Title IX and impact on women in sport. She could not have been more accomodating.

The woman we interviewed last time. Gillespie, ended up taking Goff's former AD spot at Hartford.

Why not just purchase a traffic dummy, place him under one of the scoreboards waving to the crowd. At least we could save a lot of money.

Do we really need an AD? Without the autonomy that most AD's enjoy, what we are really looking for is a person who has some administrative skills, can be an ambassador of goodwill and cheerleader. To me, that is not an athletic director. Isn't a real AD the person who runs all aspects of athletics?

The thought of St. John's doing another national search for anything makes me nervous.
It should. Wonder how much this buyout will cost?

She was there in the mid '80's when one of my players was being recruited to play for The SJU Express

What possible FT position? She's been at St. John's for over 40 years and is collecting social security.:p
The bigger question is who will replace Kathy since St. John's has indicated that it has no real use for a real Athletic Director. It appears the underlings do all the work at St. John's sports while others get the news headline and collect their checks.

Spocky, this may be the first assassination of a metaphor on public record.

I agree, I wish we knew more.
If you really want to know just ask Stephen Dombroski.

Met with him on several occasions. Seemed like he genuinely had the University's best interests in mind when it came to athletics. From what I've heard this situation was handled as best as it could possibly have been handled. Wish him well and hopefully his replacement can continue the job.
