Am I mistaken or does CO smile almost laugh when it's called against him. I sure Gift has goal tended but don't recall him seeing any humor in the call

He smiles because Obekpa has never committed a foul in his mind. You shake your head and smile sometimes when you are disgusted about something.

I was excited when you brought up Goaltending because I thought you were going to comment on how its called way too often nowadays. I think far too often an official wipes away a good block because it almost looks too good to be true.
 
Some of you people are crazy. Please bitch about every little thing you don't like about the team from the way they play to the smile on their face.

You do not try to make the offical look bad if you expect to get a fair shake from them.
Do not agree that goal tending is called too often.
 
That call on Sanchez last night was absolute garbage. He timed that perfectly, right at the top, awesome block. Tough call in real time but as Moose alluded to it does seem like anything close gets called more often than it doesn't.

It's clearly a reaction to the ref's call...like "you gotta be kidding me." IMO, nothing wrong with it at all.
We defiitely lead the country in goaltending calls, though. I'd say around half don't have a shot of going in.

lol when I saw the topic I thought it was going to say we set the record or something.
 
Am I mistaken, or does the team smile and almost giggle after a win? Other teams have won on occasion, and some of them still scowel.

Disagree. It wasn't a sarcastic "You're an ass" smile. It was a smile like "Oh man! That was a clean block" smile.

As far as I'm concerned 30% of CO's goaltending calls are legit blocks. I think the refs call blocks that are near the top of their ascent because CO can swat down shots THAT HIGH, and they presume they are on their way down.

That block in the 2nd half on the right side of the rim (was that Sanchez who made the block) did not look on the way down or in the cylinder.
 
Having nothing to do with our abysmal record in BE, but must say the officiating in the League IMO is clearly a level below previous years.

I agree. I know the rule about the backboard is pretty concrete and not open to much interpretation from the refs; but the other blocks where the ball is still on its way up but looks impossible to get too...those are still blocks. We lead the nation for a reason.

Yes I have noticed bad calls all over the place. Missed travels, carrys, and excessive foul calls in a lot of games. Last night I was happy they let Gods Gift and Teague go at it. That seems however to be the exception rather than the rule.

Bad refs have always been a hallmark of the Big East. Glad to see they have decided to continue the tradition.

FWIW, I think offensive foul calls and blocking foul calls are blown way too often. You guys may not agree, but our guys give up their bodies in the paint as much as any SJU team I've seen. Some of the blocking calls when our guy was cemented in place have been pitiful
 
On the other side of the coin our guys reach too much, resulting in easy foul calls.
