Glenn Taylor

I loved seeing the big hug that Pitino and Taylor shared when he came out during the closing minutes. Huge smile on Taylor's face too.

i know a lot was made out of pitino's comments, but I think having heard from the players and now how they have played since, my sense is that this team isn't so much trying to prove Pitino wrong, but more so playing like a team that doesn't want to let him down. the latter being a massive sign of respect for coach.

I think it is pretty clear: Pitino wanted offense, and Glenn wouldn't shoot the ball or take it to the rack. I can't say Pitino was wrong on that one - as much as I have been on the Taylor bandwagon, even I found his reluctance to be an offensive force frustrating. So Pitino benched him for Luis (who like Jenkins never saw a shot he didn't like and that seems to be what Pitino wants), and eventually told Taylor "if you wanna play, you better shoot some more." Don't think that helped the team in the short term, but maybe helped both the team and Taylor in the long run.
You nailed it!
I had been saying it all season and the staff was also frustrated. Then Pitino gave him both an ultimatum and an opportunity.
He finally responded and I hope he keeps improving because it will be nice to have Taylor and Luis become interchangeable in the rotation.

Basketball is such a beautiful game, a true team game, with fluid motion, thunderous crescendos of dunks and power moves to the hoop, the string section where in a quiet gym you can watch a beautiful shot arc rip through the nets.

It's ballet where each players movement and actions can benefit teammates. Make outside shots and it opens the inside. Dominate inside and when the defense collapses good shooters thrive.

At once it is symphony, jazz, the blues, and rock.

Glen Taylor right now is benefitting and contributing to this poetry in motion.

Hopefully the result is meaningful late March basketball.

totally agree. Seems like a great kid who hustles and can shoot which we’ve really needed this year. Didn’t understand why he wasn’t getting minutes
He seemed like he thought the best way to show that he was a team player, was to pass the ball every time.

He passed up a lot of good looks for a good portion of this season. And, of course, we would usually not get something as good for the rest of the possession.

I know it's a different style of play, but Pac-12 is still a major conference. Being a double-digit scorer there should have translated here earlier than it did.

Nice to see several guys potentially turning a corner at the same time, and I think we can be a tough out in the tournament if we get there.

I didn’t know you were a poet.

Total mystery, but onward
Looking back, I think there were times Coach thought Taylor was far too passive on offense and on the glass. If that's going to be your game, the defense better be other-worldly to offset, and even then it might not work. Times where we needed some more aggression on the offensive end or backboards, and sitting there next to Coach is a multi-talented kid like RJ who is super-aggressive in both respects. Or even the Providence game where Conway gave us a huge lift off the bench at their place, and played really aggressive all over the place. That's what I chalk it up to.
