@Georgetown, Mon. Jan. 9, 6:30pm, FS1/970AM

They don't seem to be a very smart or disciplined team. However, they do have a big size advantage inside. I think we need to speed the game up and either beat them down court for easy layups or try to beat them from the perimeter. Hopefully our shots are dropping. On defense, we should pressure their guards and try to create turnovers. There's no way we are beating them in a half court game.

Unless my research is wrong, our recent road history vs. the Hoyas is awful. Have to go back to the Jarvis era for our last win in DC.

2003 W 77-72 Marcus Hatten with 34

Last year they were also on on a 3 game losing streak and we were shredded.

So for those reasons I see us pulling off an upset. ;)

9 point loss

I predict a 41-point win.

Ponds with 33, Ellison with 18, Ahmed with 16, Lovett with 15 and a bunch of assists.

MaherPom is giving us 10% chance of winning. We don't take the ball inside enough to get their guys in foul trouble and will get beat bad on the boards so only chance is if we shoot lights out from the outside

Let's pray for a syracuse type game

Opening line has G'town by 7.
On the bright side, the 6:30 start on FS1 will enable us to see the Alabama - Clemson game.

don't know what of what you said is less likely...
the 41 pt win, Ellison scoring 18, or LoVett ( although one of my favs ) dishing out a bunch of assists.
hope your more right than Paultz lol

Steve Nash, Bob Cousy, John Stockton and Magic Johnson would have a hard time getting assists with this team. Ellison gets assists mostly passing to Ponds and Lovett. Lovett threw a nice alley oop to Ahmed. he missed it. Grabbed rebound because no one was near him and missed it. Then grabbed rebound again triple pumped so that some defenders could get there and missed again.

good point

last 2 games we really had no chance to beat Creighton and Xavier and I was very surprised to race out to that lead against Xavier....then some questionable choices taking guys out and putting guys in and boom its done....that's my one beef I have with mullin don't take guys out when they are playing well and replace with non offensive guys
that said...this Georgetown game is very winnable in my opinion and I hope the line keeps moving bigger and the money line too because this is a great opportunity to make some money although Georgetown has some height our guard advantage will exploit them and I think between ahmed, Williams and owens we get some decent games from a couple of them... without rivera this Georgetown team has its own issues

Classic style contrast. We want to run and shoot 3s. They want to play halfcourt and get points in the paint. Obviously edge to G-town since they're home and size matters, but you can't count St John's out. Will be interesting to see how the team responds coming off the last two games. Will be to some extent a measure of coaching progress to see how they come out of the gate and also to see how they respond to adversity if they get down. Hopefully they come out strong and do not pack it in if the going gets tough.

Overall I disagree it's a must win, the must is to split with Georgetown on the season. Would be nice to get this one, though.

being the eternal optimist, i am hoping that they come out with the same fire as they did against syracuse....that was a road game, coming off 2 straight ugly losses to LIU and Penn State.....these last 2 games were ugly losses but at least they were against teams that are solid Sweet 16 squads.....

It is a must win... for Georgetown.

If they lose this one, and fall to 0-5, then JT3 may not make it to next week, never mind next season.

No chance he gets fired in season. No BE team is that stupid. Oh wait.........

Agree it is not must win. Even if we lose, I just want see signs of increased commitment to improving defense.

To piggyback on the odd sub patterns....

Johnnie's go on great run. Mass subs come in. At one point right after run, Ali, Freud, Mussini and Williams all in.

No foot speed. No ability to guard Xavier guards and almost no offensive capabilites.

There went the momentum
