While Mathis shouldn't be in now, Smith and Coburn are much worse.  They're the disappointments

Playing against Nova without Posh and Champ.  We’ve got em right where we want em, right Duke?

Hey, its not over yet.

Mathis is going to keep shooting unless someone with authority tells him not to.
Nobody told him to do what he did.  Did you not see CMA yelling at him then yanking him out of the game.  He's still on him even after the break.

No excuse...you can't allow it to keep happening

I saw Coach tear into him….but I saw it did no good.

Slater is pushing and shoving Soriano at the top of the key and no foul is called.  Just a bunch of bullsh*t.

While Mathis is an aggressive, high energy guy and good defender, you can’t have a 2 guard that can’t shoot.
That’s often been a specialty at stj

Mathis made two nice passes to start the half. He looked good. We looked good. Probably because he passed. Then he took 3 more shots before anyone else got one.

Soriano turning back into sloppy post defender. Arms crowding instead of straight up
Soriano is holding his own.  He's not the problem

We were within 4 points until Mathis single handily started throwing the game.  You can't overcome 4 vs 6, and then the refs siding with them too.  Just too much.

All three are disappointing, but at least Mathis gives you some intangible hustle type energy and makes a thing or two happen here and there.  Based on what the season projections still were even two or three games in, and how we thought they’d help even then, smith and coburn are massive disappointments.  They are not upper tier Big East players. Hard to argue with that.  Makes me, at least, have a whole new appreciation for Dunn, who takes a fair amount of heat.

Mathis is known to be streaky.  Without posh, I'm sure CMA was hoping he could pick up some scoring slack. Unfortunately he hasn't had it tonight
