Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but what’s going on in the Ukraine tonight…will not be watching the game….strictly tuned to the news tonight. This reminds me of the night we were playing at Alumni Hall as the bombs were dropping on. Baghdad in the first Gulf War. News of this started to filter through the stands as the game was going on. Pray this insanity does not continue!
 
Hour and half drive from Huntington but mjmaherjr has arrived. F’ing traffic !
 
Having a game tip off before the sun goes down is giving me nostalgia for those daytime March madness games

I'm pretty certain he's Irish and from New York. I am not 100% sure, but I am older than most guys on here, I remember when my High School team in BK (Nazareth) played (Jesuit) Brooklyn Prep and Pete Gillen was their coach. So I am certain Pete is from NYC, and pretty sure Brooklyn, Irish Catholic ancestry. His accent gives him away.

Pete in college coached U of Virginia, Providence, Xavier, I think.

He writes a column for the Post or the Daily News during the NCAA Tourny, he is funny, kinda a "poor man's" Al McGuire, though Al was a lot more famous and funnier, also a better college coach. For my taste, I like Pete better.

With a bit of age on him, he right now is a cliche machine.
