Austour, for how crazy you make me seem I have been right on a few things so far going against the grain. 1) I said UConn would be way better than people were making them out to be and would clearly be better than DePaul. They are now ranked and we can safely say DePaul won't come close to them. 2) Not many people were giving SJ a real chance today vs. Detroit but I said we would come through because of our talent ultimately and we did. 3) I said Obekpa was the real deal and I think he all but confirmed that today. 7 blocks in his first exhibition, 7 blocks in his second, and 8 blocks vs. a NCAA tourney team that may even be ranked this year if they can take down some big boys. That's 22 blocks in 3 games and regardless of our opponents his timing is amazing. 4) I said we would probably suffer if D'Lo didn't start right away. Well, our offense sputtered for the entire 1st half minus Greene. That's exactly why I was mad he didn't start right away...keeping him out is shooting ourselves in the foot and puts us in early deficits. 5) We had terrible FT shooting last year, and as hopeful as I am about this team, I don't think we will be among the better FT shooting teams. I'd love to be wrong on this one though.
As for being able to post at the discretion of management, I am not banned and for good reason: all I did was post about the team. Of course you would support Marillac trying to get someone banned for merely talking about perfectly relevant issues here. You seem every bit like that person who would join in bullying someone in high school as opposed to being the one to stop it. If it was ANYONE else in the forum Marillac said that to, everyone would call him ignorant for that dumb post. But because it's me, it's open season yet again. If you don't like what I say then cry me a river, and I'll play you the world's smallest violin. Just stop trying to bait me into these stupid games and stop joining in with the hazing. Be your own man for god's sake.
A few things. First doofus I said you should be allowed to post. I'm only supporting Marillac's contention that you're an annoying dope. Calling you an annoying dope is not bullying.
Second, if you really are in HS then I really do owe you an apology. Your immaturity in that case is understandable, as is your ignorance, and I'll cut you even more slack than I have been the last few days, though if you're really that young and already have this lack of class and respect that you exhibit in every post then I won't be nominating your parents for mom and dad of the year.
Re your points, on #1 let's see more than one game against quality competition before we annoint UConn comeback team of the year. They were badly outrebounded by Vermont today (and the guards were just average as well though Omar played much better) and as was stated by many it's their interior that will either make them average or bad. Daniels, Wolf and Nolan again were awful and Olander was Olander, meh. Maybe they just have a better jet lag remedy than Mi St who against Kansas looked like 10 x's the team they were against Uconn. The Huskies are off to the Paradise Jam which has no good teams in it except Iona. Let's see how they do against Baldi's boys in the 2nd round. If they beat them and keep it at all competitive against NC St then I may start believing.
Point #2 - Everyone was giving STJ a chance today. In fact most folks give STJ a far better chance on the season than you and I have so I'm not sure what you're talking about which makes two of us. It's just that not many were running around pounding their chest about domination because we actually knew a little bit more about Detroit, underclassmen play and everything.
Point #3 - Everyone has said since the day Obekpa signed he would be a shot blocking machine from day one so no patting yourself on the back for that. The rebound numbers were nice and also surprising since he apparently has yet to be taught how to block out but he is a super athelete and will get his boards and points mostly on trash He will still be a very important part of this team without Sanchez but if Orlando was playing O would lhave played between 15-20 minutes all season. Now he'll have to be given major minutes and get trial by fire. Remember that wasn't exactly a BE front line he was playing against either (and remember Gift's first three games last year which were spectacular, albeit with less blocks but far more offensive game)
Point #4 - No one doubted that based on hoops acumen alone that DLo is an important part of the offense, though he was ineffective in the first half as he chucked up shots every time he touched the ball. He was a different player in the 2nd half, more like last year as he got into the flow of the game. I hope that is a permanent turn around. However, it doesn't mean anyone is willing to walk away from Coach being allowed to discipline the team any way he sees fit. He's the one who chose to bench Dlo, he's the one who chose to play Dlo 29 minutes. It's all up to him and if there is some reason (that we don't know about) that makes coach feel like he has to bench him again, well I'm behind him but given that you're still of an age to throw tantrums and not put away your laundry when you get grounded I'm sure that's hard to understand.
Point #5 - Team shot 68% from the line last year. Not great but really only 2 teams in the BE shot over 70.8% last year so there was very little difference between STJ and other BE teams. The fact that you could jump to the conclusion that this year was gong to be as bad or worse after seeing 5 shots in real game competition is inane.
