Just because this was a thing on the other site I would like to address here as well. Most of what I post is for my own amusement and in jest. If you are a Saint John's fan you have to look at things in comical ways or you will go crazy. With that said, do I think people want RF, Mussini and Amar to do well at least partly because they are white? Some do yes. Now honestly root for whoever you want for whatever your reasons might be. But how can you have a basketball discussion when someone is arguing about a point based on a reason they won't publicly admit to?
People have posted that Mussini should start over Ponds and Lovett at various points. And as annoying as he is people have claimed RF should play more than Ahmed. There is no sane basketball view that would lead someone to make those comments. Now if you are a person who just thinks Mussini or RF will be great because of some other reason that you may have, fine. You are just not a great basketball talent evaluator. So don't give anything I post a second thought but hopefully you are never given the opportunity to get paid to make basketball decisions
Finally during the end of the Norm reign of terror I was one of his biggest critics on the old BEB. Some people who inexplicably still supported Norm would try to say I hated Norm because he was Black. Terrible coaching, recruiting and boring basketball wasn't enough, I guess I was also a racist. Now I never even responded to those posts because it didn't bother me because I knew it wasn't true. Get the point?
I heard this anecdote about the origin of the phrase "party pooper." According to this story, the phrase originated during Victorian aristocratic parties at winter time. Because a lot of castles and manors still did not have indoor plumbing, and people who were all dressed up and averse to cold, wouldn't want to go outside, screens would be setup at strategic places with a big bowl or whatever for people to do their business behind the screen.
So the party would be going along and everyone was having a merry time, then along comes the guy who enjoyed himself a little too much on (the Victorian version of) Taco Tuesday and parks himself behind the screen. The party then quickly clears out with people making all kinds of polite excuses appropriate for Victorian aristocracy.
YOU are the guy behind the screen.
No newspapers or Ipads during Victorian times. No need to linger, plus being perched over a bowl couldn't have been fun. I would have been quick
Bottom line, RF has a much greater upside and has started to show some of the skills we have heard about. That, plus Mullin speaks very highly about his shooting skills in practice - although noting that they haven't translated to the game as yet.He obviously has a long way to go, but hopefully he is higher on rotation than Amar. As Fun & others have noted, he at least has an interest in rebounding. Also, he seems to understand the game & can pass the ball reasonably well. You have nothing to lose by inserting him in game appropriately. At least he gets baptism of fire and staff will know what we have. Sorry, but with Amar we do & there is not much there. He has not evidenced any rebounding interest & ability and his physical build and strength don't seem to translate into positives down low.
RF will not change game outcomes much, but would rather he get experience on a team going nowhere to gauge what he could offer going forward.

I'm sure you would be a fun guy to have a beer with, but today's references to your having fun naked and your ability to quickly empty your bowels under pressure is making me glad I can't put a face to the name.
He needs to play 15-20 minutes a game at least.
Amar should not play over him when he returns. I would also hope Amar transfers after this year to seek more playing time and open up a scholarship for a 5th year senior.
I don't think he is ready to contribute at 15-20 per, and if he plays that much will speak to the lack of depth on this squad.

There is a lack of depth and Yakwe will be using athleticism and aggressiveness to deal with being out-sized in pretty much every matchup so we need some minutes to have some size as well as cushion wrt Yakwe and Owens and their fouls. It is going to be an issue the rest of the season and our options are Freud, Williams and Amar. Considering that, all three need to see some regular daylight and I'd like to see Williams getting at least 8 minutes per so that he is in tune and ready to go in any game where it may come down to him.
In one of the post game quotes Mullin said he was an excellent shooter . He sees it in practice but hasn't translated into games. He looks like he is getting more comfortable and loosing the jitters. We have to remember he is only a frosh. I think he could be excellent by his Jr. year.
This kid just turned 18 in august. Not only that, he's in a totally different environment from another part of the world. I love Queens with all my heart but it isn't the Bavarian capital. It was going to take longer than 2 months of division one basketball to see what he can do. I'm happy to see him getting acclimated not only on the court but also on campus. He's got talent. If I had to pick which player would have the best shot at an NBA career, it would be Richard Fruedenburg after some seasons under his belt. You can't teach height with the skill set he's going to develop along with physical maturation. He might be 6'10 before the end of his sophomore season.
I don't know if I would say its his best position. But if all our guards are healthy. I think it benefits the team playing him at the 4. Between Yakwe and Owens we are lucky to get 40 minutes between them before fouling out. Bash also has a much better offensive game than Yakwe and a much better inside game than Freud and Amar.I don't think he is ready to contribute at 15-20 per, and if he plays that much will speak to the lack of depth on this squad.

You and Fun have become quite the comrades. You guys weren't the couple who were harassing Ivana Trump on that JetBlue flight are you?I don't know if I would say its his best position. If nothing else as Fun pointed out it puts him closer to the basket and therefore he has a shorter distance to go which gives him less chance to charge into people.

Freudenberg kicks his legs out just a bit in front of him when he shoots from deep. I think it makes him shoot it long. He always misses by just a smidge, hitting the far side of the rim. He has to eliminate that the leg kick-out.
He's got to straight up in the air with his feet. I think that'll help him tremendously.

Doesn't bashir do the same thing. Could be wrong??
