I think if he is the coach, you will deal with it. Especially if the team plays defense and heaven forbid, even wins more games than loses.

I was at the game at the Mohegan sun 3 years ago when the beat us. I remember late at night I saw him in the lobby with about 8 or so of his players and a bunch of family members. They were all giving him hugs and he was talking to them all almost individually. The family not the kids. It seemed really genuine and it went to show me that he builds a serious relationship with the players and family which allows for him to coach them the way he does. I would be absolutely thrilled if he was our next coach.

Today on WFAN right now w Mike Francesca at
least one half of all calls involve St. John’s Basketball and Mike says there’s something that keeps the school from hiring their first, second, third choice. Bobby Hurley was coming until the school low balled him and offered less money then he earns at ASU.
Mike F says he does not know the underlying reason - one caller alluded to Lou Carnssecca - could it be someone w power does not want a successful coach - unless it was Chris Mullin and even then the school did not give him the resources, support staff.
Of course I have no information as to what’s going on but I trust Mike Francesca and Mike Repole that some nefarious inner death wish to fail permeates the powers to be,

I confess: I am beginning to wonder if admin is actively trying to kill the basketball program or at least sink it to mid-major level. None of this is making sense anymore...

Have to admit -the thought never occurred to me that there are some powerful pro-Mullin factions within the admin / board who want this next hire to fail.
Probably not true, but with the level of dysfunction and chaos being exhibited, not out of the question either.
 
Didnt think he would leave an SEC gig for St. Johns. I would of liked him even before Repole exposed the dynamic duo. He can coach and hes a great man who keeps it real with his players and cares about them on and off the court. Hes got a little Bob Knight fire in him but im old school I like that stuff just dont go Mike Rice lol. You have to play defense to play for him which is great and why his teams always have a chance regardless of talent. I'd consider this a home run if they can get it done, hes just as good as Hurley if you ask me.
