Fordham AD and Basketball Coach News

Steve Lavin was on the list of possible coaches at Fordham.

Wait, did that say coach Lavin?

Aww hell naw. Could you imagine Rick Pitno and Steve Lavin recruiting against you? Oh lord.

Ed Kull is a St. John's alumnus (M.B.A.) and at one time was Chief of Staff to the St. John's president, Bobby Gempesaw[/quote] Was he the one friends with Repole ? I think he used to go to some of the away games and was at the pre game events. I think we sat with him at the Kentucky away game. Very nice guy

Yes, Ed worked at Vitamin Water early in his career. He is close with MP.

Ed is a great guy.

I actually like Steve Lavin a lot. He has shown nothing but positive support for our program since he left. As noted, the guy can recruit big names. He won't make SJU or UCLA money, and if he were to be interested would have to be half of what he made here.

That job is a career killer. So anyone who takes it needs to be very confident in their likabilty and connections so they can land back at a good school as an assistant when they flame out at Fordham.

If not, you need to be someone who knows they can snap their fingers and be back in the broadcast booth the second after they are fired.

Bullseye and build an on campus facility housing 8000. Then go after Pitino

Plus an italian restaurant, and an on campus brothel in case the sneaker companies don't help recruiting.

Fordham has Arthur Avenue. No need to add food and up there. Best food in the city!

Fordham should bring back Tom pecora.

From Mike Vaccaro's Sunday's N.Y. Post column

Hiring Ed Kull as its interim athletic director is one of the smartest athletic decisions Fordham has made in an awfully long time.

Sources: Expectation is Fordham coach Jeff Neubauer will return for the final season of his contract.

Why have an interim AD hire someone when if they hire a new AD he can hire his own man?

Guess Jeff can keep his shirt on now :)

Why have a coach with only 1 year remaining coach and recruit?

What kid is going to pick a school that has a coach that he knows will be fired before his first step on campus as a freshman?

Certainly a problem, and we had the very problem with Lavin and Mullin, which is why they were terminated with time on the contract. That however, costs money.

Exactly It’s why coaches don’t enter the last year of a deal. So unless by some miracle next year from Fordham they are pretty much punting the next year too. Just prolonging the inevitable and yes this spring is unprecedented. With not many coaches moving they could have had their pick but maybe I’m not giving them credit and they back channeled already. If so give him a paper extension with provisions.
