Was told Kansas, Florida, Florida State, Miami, UConn among many others have reached out to St Johns transfer LJ Figueroa. Could take a visit this weekend. #sjubb

Given how much Figgy has talked about loving to have his family near enough to attend all home games, UConn scares me more than the others mentioned.

Yikes. Will be a challenging re-recruit if any of those are involved. Can't say I'm surprised, special player. Hope new coach is able to retain Figgy, in addition to obviously being a foundational type talent, really enjoy watching him play with energy + intangibles that he brings on both ends of the floor.

Lets hope Figgy doesnt want to sit out a year and our next coach can convince him to stay.

Of all the off season happenings, I think losing Figgy would be the most deflating. #FingersCrossed

Yes, NCJ, it'd be crushing news to lose this guy. Maybe the fact that he's 21 and would have to sit a year putting any pro options two years further off the radar gives him pause and our new HC convinces him to stay here.
This crystallizes it for me, it's imperative we select our new HC this week.
But that's me being the 'weather vane' i am.
Lol.

Look, I'd love to have LJ stick around but no current player(s) are more important than getting the right hire.

I'm still hoping Cragg gets it done and hires the right guy.

This is why time is of the essence in hiring a new coach. While we take out time choosing the right guy, other schools are prepared to close the deal on their man. While we bide our time choosing the right time, our roster is slipping away.

I was hoping we could keep Figueroa and Heron on board. Hopefully, we can still keep Figueroa once we make a hire.

I think you could sell him on Cluess for what it would do to his ppg, but not sure Figgy sticks around for Porter Moser. Hopefully he really knows how to sell the Final Four experience if he's the guy.

Figgy cannot be guaranteed starter minutes at any of those schools. If he wants to leave to sit a year without any idea of the rosters of those schools 2 years from now then he is getting terrible advice.
That said, I'm more concerned about getting the right coach than retaining any of Matt's players.

A good coach will be able to sell his vision for the program. Great assistants can also be a factor. Figgy will never ever start at Kansas or Florida or any other power 5 school. Sorry, but just not that level talent with multiple skills. He would be able to start with SJ. Leaving doesn't do anything for him even at Uconn.

LJ is now looking for a coach who can help get him to the NBA. He will hate to sit the year but based on SJU's candidates the schools he is considerating to transfer to will have no problem in convincing him to jump.

There’s not a school in the country where figgy would have “no chance” at starting at in 2 years.

Figgy would be an immediate starter for Miami and UConn.

Gotta put out one fire at a time. First let’s get the coach, then let’s hope the coach takes care of Figgy, Heron, etc

You're sounding like me, Beast!
Us weather vanes are being whipped around senselessly here.
Let's get it done.
Lol.

Please remember that he is only 6'6 and not a good ball handler with an awkward release. He can be easily recruited over in 2 years at most power 5 schools.
