"This season didn't go as we expected, but we never gave up and we fought every single game for this jersey and this is why i love this team!
I met really good people and teammates with whom i had great moments and feelings and so i wanna say thanks to them and to all St.John's fans that despite everything always supported us...
I wanna also wish good luck to Felix, Ron and DJ for their post college career and i hope to meet them again soon maybe on an other court...
Can't wait for the next season!"

Well said Federico.

Classy kid. I still think he will be a very good player for us down the road

Say what you want about his shooting percentage going south, but Mussini became very reliable bringing the ball up against pressure. D1 caliber teams smell blood when a kid has no handle, and if anything Mussini got better as the season progressed in this regard. He has to improve his passing, especially his short passes, but I believe he already has. He actually has looked a little better going to the hoop of late, drawing some fouls and making a couple of shots. His movement without the ball has also improved dramatically. We know his limitations re foot speed and size (not concerned strength on offense), but has a very quick release on his shot and plenty of range.

I think he will see playing time at PG, and some spot time at SG, and will rediscover s shooting touch. 85% FT shooting wasn't a fluke, nor was his earlier season offensive outbursts.

Oh yea, and he appears to be a great kid who writes as well or better than most American born college students.

For the people worried about transfers, Kassoum and Sima both said on social media they are excited for next season. Every freshmen did except Ellison

While I don't go as far as others to proclaim Sima and Yakwe sure fire NBA prospects, I would say that the takeaways from this year to next (Sima, Yakwe, Mussini, and maybe Ellis and even Amar) doesn't exactly build a foundation, but has some very serviceable guys and a couple of starters going forward.

Mullin will start year 2 in far better shape than year one. A 13-17 campaign, or 14-16 would be a nice step upwards.

Thumbs up to Mussini! Nice post that reflects the attitude we hope to see from kids involved with the program. Looking forward to watching this group of freshmen advance over the next few years.

It was a hard season for all of us. In particular , when we saw our team make the same stupid mistakes from the beginning of the season to the end of the season,, We had some good players and we should have won more games, Let's hope that our coaches have learned enough from this season to enable us to have a better season next year, In conclusion, the better players next year is not the only answer to a better season ,it also takes an inspiring take charge coach on and off the court. I believe Coach Mullin will eventually be that coach. I really wish him to be the that,

He's going to get PT next year. I'm betting he comes back stronger, smarter and with some well deserved confidence after a trying season where he stepped up, often. Hard worker, sweet stroke, well spoken, and zero drama. Looking forward to another 3 years of FM.

Sounds like the second coming of Phil Greene. Let's hope.

Fun in 5...4...3...

Just saw (again) a pic from a photo shoot that has Sima, Mussini and Yakwe. Federico tweeted a pic from that shoot that says "Brothers" which I really like. It's 3 guys who could very likely spend 4 years playing/growing/succeeding together. I know it's been rumored that Ellison might transfer...does anyone know if that's the reason he wasn't part of this photo shoot? I believe the shoot was promo for the Big East Tourney.

I would think BE had some say in who was at the shoot.

Might be my bad on that...I thought I remembered it coming up in the last few weeks somewhere on the board. I didn't really think much of it until FM tweeted the pic. Probably nothing...choice of the Big East marketing team, but I feel a bit bad for Ellison since he's was one of our 4 freshman that were consistent contributors.

stjohnchris, when Paultzman posted last week that there were rumors about someone leaving the team, I asked if it was Ellison (given that LoVett and Ponds will likely be seeing lots of minutes next year). Paultzman quickly responded that it wasn't him.

Got it, all good, thank you.
